• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. High Idle?

My last ride out I noticed that my SE5 was idling high. The problem with it being high, is the Centrifical Clutch does not disingage. The idle speed is about 1,800 rpm. I am hoping that the next time I start her up, it will be OK. The motor was warmed up. I have to keep my foot on the break to stop from moving forward. Has anyone else had this happen in the first 500km? (350 mi)

High Idle

I just had my spyder (SE5) in for its first service and parking brake fix yesterday. In the process they put in synthetic oil and I don't think that was what was in it to start with. I notice the gears seem to change more smoothly and yes, now the clutch stays engaged when stopped. RPM's seem to be about 1800. It also seems to have a studder trying to change down from 2nd to 1st - can't decide which gear it wants to be in. All this started after the first service. It also seems to increase in RPM's at idle as it gets warmer.

Maybe soneone on this forum or Lamonter will be able to enlighten us.

Spyders come from BRP with their synthetic oil from the get go - that is what they are supposed to run.

I don't see how your Spyder could have anything other than synthetic oil in it unless someone drained it and put something else in.

No idea what to tell you on the SE5 with a high idle. Better get her into the dealer soon.

There is a problem with the SE5 transmisison that BRP is aware of. Please refer to the following posting on another forum. The situation you describe is exactly the symptoms that some others are having as well.

Thanks for the information and reference to another forum discussion about this. I have also noticed that when I put the spyder in reverse and take my foot off the brake the bike starts to move very fast in reverse. Need to be careful until BRP gets a fix for this.

I guess the oil problem I thought I had came about because the tech was going to put regular oil in the bike until I said not to do that. He then told me it had regular oil in it he thought, and didn't know if he should change to synthetic - that is what he had been doing apparently for others. He then went to the service department and got the synthetic oil and put it in. I asked what training they had had and he said that BRP sent them DVD's to watch. That's comforting...

Thanks for your response. This forum and others like it are the best! Be careful out there!

So my first question is, what happens to all of the people who had taken their Spyder in for service and the tech changed from synthetic oil to regular oil. How is that going to affect either any warranty or long term health of the engine. #2 wonder if you can get a copy of the DVD?
