• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A Spyder Ryder

hello

First post to what looks like a great board. I have a 2011 RT-S that has 860 miles on the clock. Bought it from a retired guy up the street who says he bought it while having a super senior moment.

I have a local dealer and I want to make sure all is well but have not taken it for a check up yet.

The guy I bought it from says there is an app that tells me what is wrong if something does go wrong. He couldn't remember what it is. He doesn't do phones but, sorry for the rambling, is there an android app available that plugs in to it or uses something like the codes displayed on my car?

Thanks in advance for the info

Paul

Welcome

Welcome to Spyder lovers. You are looking for an app called Spyder Codes. It will tell you what the codes are on your bike, allow you to track your fuel mileage, and give you other helpful things like BRP Dealers list, an idea of what the flashing warnings are on your dash etc.
You will find out there is a wealth of knowledge here on this forum. Take a look around and don't be afraid to ask questions. Nine times out of ten you will find d the answer to most problems right here. Hope you enjoy your Spyder as much as we all do. Make sure you read the do's and don'ts on the home page as it has very good information for new Spyder riders.

Welcome aboard. Go to the General Discussion page and look at the "Do's and Do Not" thread. Very good reading for anyone with a Spyder.

To both the spyder world and this most helpful site...congrats on finding a great ryde..!! :2thumbs: have it checked out and get to enjoying the ryde...:ohyea::ohyea:

WELCOME!

Where in Pa are you from? I moved to the Las Vegas area last November from Northeast Pa. Enjoy your Spyder and keep your RPMs up!

Hey Paul:congrats: and welcome!
The Spyder Codes app lists the codes that may show on the display of your Spyder. There is nothing to "Plug In". Here is a video that explains how to display "Active Codes", if any are being produced. Once you turn off your Spyder, those codes are no longer "Active" and must be retrieved by your dealer's "BUDS" computer system, which does plug in. I hope this makes some sense.

Hi

You'll excuse me but did you move from the Northeast corner of the state or the neat town called NorthEast which is is in the North West corner of the state? Only a true Pennsylvania could appreciate the irony :}

I'm closest to a town called Corry.

Thanks all for the welcome, I have read the Do's & Don'ts and will try to commit any crimes against spyderdom.
:welcome: And please don't be offended when someone like me occasionally asks, "Did you search the forum?" :lecturef_smilie: Many times you will find much more info by searching for past discussions rather than just asking and hoping for lots of answers. The search box in the upper corner works pretty good, and the Advanced search is quite good. That is, with one limitation. The forum search won't accept 3 letter words. The search terms have to be 4 or more letters. An alternative that will work for 2 and 3 letter words is a Google search in the following format; term1 term2 term3 and-so-on site:spyderlovers.com, for example car tire site:spyderlovers.com, brings up a lot of threads. Advanced Google search will allow you to limit the time frame of hits.

And if a search doesn't give you the answer you need, please ask. We all learn from new questions.

Well, every board has a gate keeper either appointed or self appointed.
I'll try not to ruffle your feathers.

I suppose I could have found where the guy from Northeast PA came from and I am terribly sorry you had to read the exchange.

I'm from the WilkesBarre/Scranton area.

No need to be sorry. I wasn't even paying attention to that exchange! I just now read over it again. I had no idea there was a town called Northeast in PA.

I just want you, and other newbies, to be aware that the search function can really be helpful and often can turn up days worth of reading, both informative and mundane! :) Sometimes comments from as far back as 5+ years are really worthwhile finding.
