• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey Lamont,

I have read some of your 'How To' posts in the various forums and had a couple of questions.

I saw in one or more posts about removing belly pan. The left side for oil change convenience and the right for the radiator block plate to let heat disipate. Both EXCELLENT ideas IMHO!

Are you still running full time with both off and have you had any issues or negative side effect running this way long term? Has BRP voiced any concerns to you about running this way? Just curious.

Also how well do the heated grips work after installing the Kuryakyn grips on the RT? This is one mod I am considering but I LOVE my heated grips' I just wish they were larger.

I know you addresses to Lamont, but I thought you might like others experience also. I removed both of my lower pans. Right primarily to release heat after Spyderpops blocker and ISCI fan can were installed. Also removed left side, partially to release heat, but primarily to facilitate doing my own oil changes. I have almost 6000 miles on with mo issues at all. And by the way I have no heat issues on my foot at all and the RT runs cool, consistently at mid point on gauge. Even in high 90 degree heat.

I'll be curious if BRP has any opinion on it. Lamont may know, but I can't envision a scenario where they would void a warranty due to this removal.

Happy rYding to you!

I am using Grip Puppies and they work great. They increase the diameter of the grip and give plenty of cushion for those longer rides. I really like the looks of the Kuryakyn ISO grips and from what I hear from others the heat is not severely reduced but I just don't want to cut up my stock grips to make them fit. Maybe if they come out with ones specifically for the Spyder I will switch but for now I am sticking with my Grip Puppies. :D

Is there a particular size of Grip Puppies that fits the RT's? Have looked at several sites all seem to be the same. Anyone have a link to the right size? Would appreciate it.

Those pans have been off for 30,000+ miles with no ill effect. They are only there to reduce noise so I've been told.

Kury grips work fine but they don't get as hot as they did without them. I can now use the high setting where that was too hot before.

One size fits all. I am going to get a pair too. I just never seem to get around to ordering them.

You will need to trim about 1/4" off the end of the Grip Puppies so they don't overlap over the end caps. Wet a bar of soap, smear the soapy result on the stock grip and on the inside of the Grip Puppies Then wring them on using steady, circular motion. Hold the grip Puppy with a rag to get a good grip.

There was a warning not to let the throttle twist into the stop with too much force or breakage of a plastic component could result. There is no throttle cable on the RT so hold the throttle side in place.

Thanks Rando! Great info. I'm always getting that "tingling feeling" in my hands on longer rydes, so hopefully this will relax the vibrations a bit. Seems like a good cheap fix.

Thank You, All

Excellent input from everyone. I guess I have a couple of things to do this weekend.

I have and love the grip puppies also, but next time I will order 2 sets so I will have extras, they seem to split and need to be replaced quite often.
