• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Here's a problem I haven't seen here before

Haven't seen this here before. This was one of the bolts holding on the engine filter cover. Now it's garbage. I dodged a bullet in that the broken off piece was sticking out of the engine enough I could get a grip on it with pliers and back it out.

Anyone know if you can buy those bolts separately? Cheap Cycle Parts maybe?

Is that the right bolt? Looks like the longer one from the HCM (trans) filter. It's longer but hard to tell from the picture. If you mixed them up. That may be why you twisted it off. Now the other problem is if the short bolts are in the trans filter. That going to strip out the threads. Several folks have striped the threads with the right bolts.

Engine filter bolt: 205063044 Socket Head Screw M6 X 30
Trans filter bolt: 420241811 Socket Head Screw M6 X 35

They are about a $1.00 each from BRP.

I'll double check of course but I'm always careful to do just one filter at a time. Remove cover, replace filter and o-ring, replace cover.

Also looks like you have to order them in quantities of 10 from BRP.

Industrial supply store

Most places have an industrial supply store; we have McFadden Dale, Fastenal, Nevada Bolt, and ACE. Those bolts are common sizes. Bolts break and strip. Replace as required.

Well....

:agree: with the bolt mix ups but if you do one at a time, as I always recommend, it may be that that one has been over tightened a time or two and just gave up...:banghead:

Problem solved courtesy of Lowes.

Fresh oil and almost full tank of gas, treated with Stabil. Let it snow!

i said a long time ago, that BRP uses cheap bolts. they are not hardened. i tried to remove a fender support bolt, and it broke on me
