There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Monday of last week 4/8/13 I had orange start flashing on my dash an saying brake failure.. I took it to my dealer the following Tuesday an told them what was going on.. They told me they would try an get it in that afternoon an see what was going on.. I asked them to call me an let me know what the problem was.. I also told them that we was planning on attending Spyderfest an was leaving on the 24th.. I didnt hear from them so i call the on Thursday an they told me that it was just some kind of computer problem an that BRP sent them a new update for them to put on the bike.. They also was ordering me the new access panel.. Never head a word from them so I called yesterday tuesday 4/16/13 an asked if I could come pick it up being that it was fixed so that I could log some miles an make sure that it was ok.. I picked it up an hauled it home.. Rode it a few mikes today (23) an tonight me an the wife was gonna ride it to dinner.. Back out of the garage an BOOM the orange dash starts flashing an saying brake failure.. What the heck?? Now here it is 7 days away from the start of spyderfest an I am gonna have to take my bike back to the shop.. Oh an they are closed on Monday.. Dont look like I will be making it this year..... I am so peeeeeeed right now........

Did you pull up an active fault code (press MODE, SET & turn signal cancel simultaneously for RT)? If you tell us the code, we can interpret it and possibly shed a little mor light on things. There are a few different possible causes.

not this time.. Last time it was 1282.. Low Hydraulic pressure.. I will go check an see if it is different this time....

A low brake pressure fault could be caused by riding the brake or by a faulty brake switch, or it could indicate actual low brake pressure. You tech should have performed a brake pressure test via BUDS, but it appears he may not have done so. If the brake pressure test is good, and the pressure doesn't bleed off, the brake switch should be tested, adjusted, and/or replaced, or the riding habits should be carefully examined. If you have a different fault this time, the new problem is coincidental.

Same code... Like I stated before.. I know for a fact that I dont ride the brake pedal... And it is B.S. that they didnt run the right test on it to start with.. It gets kinda pricey hauling it back an for almost 100 mile round trip for nothing....

Check the break fluid level, low break fluid can sometimes throw a ( Break Fail ) warning.
Especially if your travailing up a steep incline or steep driveway.

Had the same problem

I ended up having to put brake fluid in mine, wasn't much but I haven't had a problem since

if your able to ride the bike without any problems other than the brake failure warning and you do indeed have braking power i would ride it to spyderfest and have the guys at putbull look it over cause you know it will get fixed right from them.or trailer it up there you mentioned you had a trailer.j.m.o. just don't miss out on this great event of the year expessicaly when you been looking fwd to it so much.at least you will know whats really wrong with your bike if you bring it up there.

Riding out to spyderfest is part of the fun... I'm not gonna trailer it that far.. I have been thinking about just going ahead an bringing it out there an letting Lens crew take a look at it.. Only thing is if there is something major wrong with it, it might take them the entire time that I am there to get parts for it.. Also what if the brake system completely goes out before I get there:shocked:.. Its danged if i do an danged if I dont....

I knew that you were doing things right, but thought it was worth another mention for others...and for you to impress upon the dealer. I agree that what they did was BS. First thing I would do would be to look for a dirty, loose, or misadjusted brake switch, at the pedal. From that point I would insist on having the tech report the exact brake pressure reading from BUDS...or better yet, print the screen. Sounds like you are going to have to lean on them hard. I think I would talk heart-to-heart with the business owner before I went in, to grease the wheels. Given the nature of the fault, I would not ride to Spyderfest for service, it is risky. Maybe this is a glitch, but maybe it is the first signs of a dangerous failure. Better safe than sorry, no matter how disappointing.

I had the same thing last week. There was a stone stuck some where by the brake pedal.
it was the size of a piece of rice. They save it for me. We went over some cinders on a ride so I guess that where I got it.

just another suggestion you might want to call len and find out if he has a loaner you could use while the guys go over it with a fine tooth comb that is if you don't get fixed before it's too late to ride there.

Had the brake failure on my wifes 2010 RTS two weeks ago. The code on hers was low fluid. However the fluid was up where it was supposed to be. What the dealer did was a complete fluid replacement. This solved the issue. Found out that the brake fluid is supposed to be changed every 12,000 miles (under the old service requirements) or 2 years. I'm just saying this as a possibilty not knowing how old or how many miles you have on your Spyder.

I couldn't agree with you more Scotty.., I believe you are right on the money, that being said inless I missed it, how many miles is on the spYder??

Wow I would never guessed that,

Replace brake fluid? I've got to invest in a turkey baster. Seems like you need one a lot with these :ani29:'s. I feel for you Bro! Wish I was
there to help you out like you where for me. We could give that dealer some hell. I'm  that you and Ronda make it. Looking forward
to hanging out and taking in all the SF with you guys.

You do not replace the brake fluid with a turkey baster! You flush the brakes (bleed them), replenishing the fluid as you flush. The hydraulic clutch should also be flushed according to schedule.

Suppose to have it fixed... Guess what it was?????? The very first thing that should have been check an it wasnt... BRAKE PADS.. Funny thing is at 11000 miles when I had the rear tire replace they were suppose to replace the bake pads then.. Its got 13500 on it now an they are wore out?? Dont sound like to me that they got replaced..... Also the first tech didnt clear the codes when I had it there.... Hope that this take care of the problem.. Just waiting on the wife to get home so we can go pick it up.....

Glad to hear you got the problem solved. I was going to suggest an additional place to look. Make sure there is no debris at the rear of the bike on the brake cable. This can prevent the brake from releasing completely and will eventually put the :spyder2: into limp mode.

I have had this happen, as well as two others who visited AK and had to drive on gravel roads for a bit.
