• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Her last call was from a new cell phone

The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph.
The VW driver was talking on a mobile phone when she
pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the
motorcycle.
The riders reaction time was not sufficient
enough to avoid this accident. The car had two passengers
and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them.
The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact
and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place.
All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were
killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at
the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety Department..
Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be new drivers, or new motorcycle
owners
AND ESPECIALLY
EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO HAS A mobile PHONE!!!!!
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Save a life...
Stop talking on Mobile phones
and Texting while trying to drive.
The life you save may be your
own..... or mine...

AWFUL

I'm an x-leo and I have been talking about this for YEARS, Vermont finally got off their A**es ( the legislators ) and passed no phones, no texting etc. laws and it is enforced...........But we most still pray for the stupid......Mike

This has been around for many years but is still very effective. Unfortunately out lawing texting or use of a cell phone unless it is a hands free seems to do no good here in greater Tucson. If it's not the cell phone it's napping by our elder citizens. Drive defensively out there!

Scary..!!

but a good way to prove a point. Pictures can better explain the effects...painfully sad...

cell phones must be disabled when vehicles are in gear.
this is not a new thought, but a good one to repeat

not only cell phone i see pepole trying to eat a 3 coarse meal while driving and never mine the ones the have pets hanging out their windows that's another thing that gets me

 I feel bad for the families of all three of the deceased...
But talking on a cellphone while driving... AND an 85 mph speed from the bike? :gaah:
This was more a case of "unintentional suicide"... :banghead:

Hi Jerbear,

Re: before you open the link.

According to the link you listed: But the claim that the accident depicted in these images was the result of cell phone distraction is doubtful. The motivation for highlighting this particular accident at a motorcycle fair seems more likely to have been to convince motorcyclists to slow down by showing them the potentially fatal results of excessive speed.

Looks like it was nothing more than excessive speed by the m/c rider, not any cell phone useage by the elderly couple.

Urban legend?????

 Does it really matter? Three people died at that messy scene... :banghead:
Cellphones, excessive speed, fascinating conversation, adjusting the radio frequency, The Sun got in Somebody's eyes...
The reason isn't as important, as the end result!

It only matters if

if facts matter. Would almost bet there hundreds of photos available where cell phone use WAS the culprit. Kind of reminds me of a recent rape case that was written about. You know, the one that never happened.

The cell phone tag puts the blame on the driver of the car. After reading the article I would have to say that the couple in the car probably never had a chance to see the biker before they started making the turn based upon his speed. Yes it is a dangerous world and I have been on a bike that was totaled because a driver pulled right out in front of me quite possibly because of a cell phone. I should have been able to know that for certain since I did a face plant into the drivers side window but I don't recall the impact. The lesson from this thread should not be about cagers and phones but about the need for bikers to ride responsibly.
