• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HELP!! WON'T SHIFT INTO FIRST!!

Cranked up the F3-S this evening and backed out of the garage normally. Went to put it into first and it wouldn't shift. Gauge kept going from N to E and back to N again. Reverse works normally. If I try to shift into first with parking brake on, no change in RPM's. If I try to shift with parking brake off, rpm's rev up to 1300 and then quickly back down to 900. Hope it's not a transmission problem. No active codes and I'm calling the dealer tomorrow. Perhaps gear position sensor? Only have 5100 miles on the Spyder. This is my only hiccup.:banghead:

Little checking..

On the older model V-twin you could go to the linkage and manually shift. Check your manual and see if it mentions this. It may be hung up or loose but you should be able to put a wrench to it and shift it out of reverse and then try to see if the other gears work.... :dontknow:

It's an SE6. Will shift into reverse and back to neutral. Just won't shift into first. My manual says if it won't shift have it transported to a dealer. Hope it's just the gear position sensor.

Most likely Gearbox Position Sensor (GBPS) - dealer will even know if your VIN# is one of the ones with service bulletin to clean out gearbox of contaminates and replace sensor. Keep us posted

forgive me, but....

.......make sure your foot's on the brake...or it won't shift into 1st. :shemademe_smilie:

I'm not sure but I thought I saw something on here about brake switch issues possibly linked to this problem. :dontknow::dontknow: Anyone else remember seeing a post??

Trailered it to my dealer today. They can't get to it until next week. I told them that was cool as long as I have it back by July 8. I'm leaving for Deadwod on the 9th. Will go into reverse and N just fine but not into 1st. (And yes my foot is on the brake). I'm hoping it's just a gear position sensor. They checked my VIN and nothing popped up about bad GPS from the factory, so we will see. When I try to go into 1st I get N and then E on the screen. Could not pull up any codes. Will let everyone know what I find out. Oil was changed by the dealer at 3000 miles. I now have 5100 on it.

If it turns out to be the gearbox position sensor - it will be ironic for me since my 2008 Spyder that I traded in for F3 had its GBPS replaced three times. Fortunately my 2008 was an SM5 and would shift correctly just the dash went bonkers with E on screen.

IF the dealer knows that the VIN is one of those on the SB, then SHAME on the dealer for not replacing the sensor PRIOR the sale.

I will  for you and hope you get to Deadwood. If they can't fix it you may want to try Gainesville Motorsports
and ask for Tom Howell, he has worked on Spyders since 2008. Sharon called BRP started a Case Number, BRP became very helpful and had there techs call Tom. I hope to get my Spyder back in the next few weeks, due to parts. So good luck, and let me know how what was wrong when you get it back.
