• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Help with part number

On my mini-vacation, I managed to go over a raised area coming out of a parking lot and bent the rod that goes between the shift lever and shift drum. It could probably be replaced by M6 all thread but I want to use the correct original part. I looked through the BRP parts fiche and couldn't find the shift lever (SM5) OR this theaded rod (about 4 - 5 inches long). If someone could tell me which section of the fiche this part is included in or has the P/N for threaded rod, that would be great. I just can't find it. Also, please don't advise me to bend the rod; it might be bent but mine is bent to the point where it is likely weakened and I would rather replace. TIA - wg

Curious..!!

Sm or Se..?? On the SE model the gear shift rod is part number 420257890 on the SM model the linkage rod is part number 504152819. Most of these rods are right hand thread on one side left hand thread on the other. Full threaded rod will not work...

Just changed my signature so that little faux pas will not happen again. MANY MANY thanks! I bet I looked at that busy engine diagram 10 times and didn't notice the shift lever down on the bottom left. I was unaware that the thread went reverse on one end (end side I bet) and regular on the shifter side. I had to loosen the locknut to raise my Seal Boards shifter so I can get my toe under and I don't recall the shifter side thread being reversed. The early seal boards shifter is really over built and hangs very low. When I dinged it a a ridge coming out a parking lot, the linkage bent in at about a 30 degree bend and the shifter is a bit sloppy as a result but actually shifts fine. Will get new part ordered forthwith! MANY MANY MANY thanks.

Cheapcycleparts.com has them at better prices.
They have different threads so you can loosen the lock nuts and just twist the rod to adjust the position...

Sir, I had foolishly placed my order with some fly-by night-outfit called Pit Bull Powersports for the SAME $31.99 except Pit Bull charges $6.99 for UPS ground shipping and CheapCycleParts.com charges $13.15! I have already checked almost all Can-Am parts sellers and Pit Bull seems to have the best shipping prices. Always. You are probably right though, this Pit Bull place is probably a front for some crime organization or something... just my luck!

Anyway, many thanks! wg

Pit bull is great..they have great prices as well. I have their shock relocators which work great..didn't know about the shipping stock is usually the issue..glad your all set...
