• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

gain, this is just to help out. It seems some have received incorrect info. There are a lot of key tags on the list. Mike,
I'm pretty sure that the TSB was dealing with a mechanical issue with the switch. the "KEY" error (I think!) would seem to be more a case of the computer and the key not speaking quite the same language...

One probably has very little, to do with the other.

That's correct Bob.

The 2014's have 2 different problems with the ignition and keys.

Problem one. Ignition switches with a certain series of key codes will get stuck and need to be replaced. The code is on the rubber tag that came with the keys.

Problem two. The spyder is unable to communicate with the transponder key. The DESS unit needs to be replaced.

They are two unrelated and separate problems with two different solutions. Over time they have been mixed up and confused. The result is people like the OP get lousy and confusing advice.

You can disengage the brake by pulling the pin at the rear caliper. You have a DESS failure. The security sensor does not recognize you keys. Sensor must be replaced.

What pin are you speaking of? There is no pin on my '14 Brembo brake. The cable is connected to the brake tensioner arm by an oblong loop that is swaged to the cable. The tension on the loop must be released by loosening the tension nut before it can be lifted off the tensioner arm. At least that's the way my brake is.

Billy, The D.E.S.S. unit is under warranty I had the D.E.S.S unit replaced on my 14RT-SE6 last week. Also, the dealer had to reprogram the both sets of keys. Deanna

HI Dee,
Your dealer could bring it up for you. This list was posted back late in the Winter of 2014, when this issue popped up.
Your keys came with a small "tag with them. It's probably on the keyring that holds your spare key and sheath.
It'll have a four digit number on it. If it's on this list; you should have your dealer take action.
(This is completely unrelated to your recent warranty work...)

Apparently you read my Post #15.................and as usual you didn't understand it ...........but that fact is not UNUSUAL, because you have extreme difficulty understanding anything I post.....:dontknow: :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:..............Mike

Hi Bob, The next time I visit my dealer I will ask. Is this a separate problem? Should I wait ? Deanna

If you've had no problems with your ignition switch appearing to "jam"; I would say that it's not a critical issue. It'd be more just for your peace of mind! :D
If you can look up that number on the tag, and compare it to what I posted above; that'd give you a good idea of if your bike might be affected.

1760 was on the second list.

The service desk is telling me the VIN/key tag combination is NOT on the service bulletin. Right now they are pulling the switch out. They believe something is physically preventing the key from being fully inserted.

See list on post #26. 1760 is there.

My curiosity is killing me. How'd you get the parking brake released?
