• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Help please...

I rode my 2010 RT to Morrow Mountain State Park on Sunday...beautiful weather by the way. I had a situation I could use some tech help with please. When I restarted on my way down the mountain the engine abruptly died. When I restarted the "check engine" light came on along with the flashing meme on the screen. I stopped and checked the oil, coolant, etc. with nothing out of order. I started again and it continued to flash on my way down. I stopped again and after still finding nothing wrong, upon restart, the light wasn't on again. I rode back home with no difficulty. My brother, who also has a Spyder, told me to check the brake fluid as the angle of decline may have had something to do with the light coming on. Now that sounds a little far afield to me so does anyone have any thoughts here as to the cause?

Thanks for the input in advance.

Did you check for codes? Press Mode/Set and Signal button at the same time to bring active codes to the screen.

With nothing more to go on, I'd go with your brother's advise. The Spyder is very touchy with regards to brake fluid level. As your pads wear the fluid replaces the void and lowers the level in your reservoir. Just a little bit can set of your warning system. Combined with the angle of decent. That could very well be your problem.

Cheap and easy to eliminate it at the very least.

:agree:, that happened to me on my 2012 RT and the brake fluid level was the problem along with the angle of the steep hill I was going down.

My friend's Spyder was doing the same thing, there is a steep hill by her home and she would get the check engine light when she would hit the brakes going down the hill. She was a tiny bit low on fluid and after we topped it off everything is ok, no more check engine.

Agree..!!

Polonged angles tend to make the sensors sound off. Fuel, oil, brake fluid levels will vary. Once you level out for a bit they go away or once you walk away with the key then restart they disappear. I have had the stability sensor shut me down on long banked curves as well. Always good to check the levels anyway..

The problem does sound like the brake fluid wants a little more in the reservoir. A teaspoon or more down will cause the warnings to light up if you are going down a steep hill.

The fact that it corrected itself once you were off the hill, seems to indicate checking the brake fluid first.
