• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Went out to start the bike and It will not start. :gaah: The oil light is staying on, checked oil had to add oil. It's showing full now. Let it sit and still will not start.

Due to a 3090 mile trip, it was a little passed due for the oil change and that was our plans to do tonight.

Please Help!!!

If it will not start, the oil light will stay on. Have you tried putting your foot on the brake and then starting? Sometimes that works for me. Also, I am sure you checked, but is the kill switch in the correct position.

Your guess is as good as my. Maybe it took some time for the oil that I added to do it's thing. Since this was going to be our first DTY oil change we decided that I would just do the 2 hours drive to the dealer.

The oil level would of had nothing to do with your Spyder not starting unless the motor was ceased .:dontknow:

The oil has nothing to do it starting,or not starting'
Also when engine isn't running and the key is turned on the oil light will stay on. And also if you added oil to the full mark with a cold engine you probably over filled it.
I would say most likely you didn't have the brake fully depressed when you tried to start.

If you're taking it to your dealer for an oil change, I'd certainly mention this issue to the service tech.

Chris

Chris, I'm planning on mentioning it to the tech but I really wish I had another dealer to do my service.

Well, back from the dealer, mention the starting problem and the low oil. The Tech had no reason for the low oil except maybe because of the hot weather we have been having it burned out. Everything checked out and had the 9000 miles oil & filter change done. Now ready to travel to Knoxville, TN for Wing Ding a week from Saturday. Fun riding in the mountains of Tennessee.

Spyders invading Wing Ding

Just picked up our new Spyder today. Driving it to Wing Ding from Cary, NC. Maybe we'll see you there, Ruthie.

As a newbie, really appreciate being able to read all the posts. Helps to get a better feel for the bike.

Failre to start

My wifes RTs has done this twice, they seem to flood very easily. The enrichment for cold start seems very rich! So if you repeatedly try to start over and over is easy to flood. This is adressed in the service manual. My wife has learned to hold starter button in untill it starts, NO short bursts with the starter. The service manual says if you think you have a flooded engine hold the throttle WIDE while starting open this cuts the fuel and spark to clean out the engine {Goldwings use this same mode}.Then try to start normally no throttle. The wifes has donethis twice in almost 40,000mi. , not since we figured this out, maybe this will help someone this is how I found out how hard the front plug is to change.
