• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

:sour:Hi Gang, just took the Arañita out for a spin fromo home to the office so I may install the BajaRon sway bar and when trying to park moving back and forward it showed an ¨E¨ on the gear indicator at the dashboard. According to the manual it says that is a problem with the ¨Gear Position Sensor Malfunction¨ and need to be taken to dealership for repair. Now has it happen to any one of you and if yes what was the reason of the failure, just the sensor or other sensor. On a recent trip during this past weekend my Y while shifting from R to N and from N to 1st it turned off so I have to think that has something to do with it. I don´t want to change the sway bar till this is fixed since knowing the dealership thy will say that it broke bc of the sway bar...grrr...Any words of adive would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!

First, check the oil level. The gear sensor is actuated by oil pressure and if you are extremely low it will not kick the sensor into the proper place. If that doesn't work then you probably are in need of a new sensor and that means a trip to the dealer.

I have had the "E" pop up on two or three separate occasions. I shut off and re-booted and it has gone away. Have not seemed to have any other tranny/shifting issues here. 8,000 miles on the odometer so far.

Thanks for your replies, the oil is fine, as of last tuesday and with no riding till today. I have been checking the oil every 500 kms, now has 2850 kms within 1.5 months. Just took her home and no issues BUT and since a couple of times it turned off while parking on a recent trip I am concerned that might be something else....Any other advice/comments would be greatly helpful!!!..Best regards!

Any codes show up? Mine did that and it got worse rather quickly. It threw P2806 code. Turns out that the gear position sensor went bad. It is plastic on the inside and has a metal retaining clip around a hole that is D shaped. The plastic broke down so the little shaft thing that goes into the sensor couldn't move the plastic D anymore.

I sometimes get the "E" as well. Probably about 10% of the time.
It happens as I'm shifting from one gear to another. It seems to show up more often between first and reverse.
I have a manual transmission and it never seems to affect anything.

Well; it's certainly got to do with the gear position sensor; If it's not allowing you to complete your shifts; you'll need to have it replaced. If it just pops an "E" once in a while, and the transmission is still shifting normally; I'd think it safe to ignore it. ;)

Beware

The first time it happened on my GS my clutch basket ended up disintegrating. It was determined to be a bad solenoid. My GS has been in the shop since early July. I would get it checked out asap.

Thanks for all your replies, now the thing is that on my way home while on a stop light on 1st I pressed to go to N and got R ????, put it back on 1 and tried again to N and it was correct. The Tech Support Manager at BRP México just wrote and told me to take it to the dealership BUT it is 3 hrs away from town. The local Dealer is really bad so SOL...will see what happens and will let you all know!!!....Any other suggestions will be gradly accepted...

Well it did again the N to R directly and viceversa..in the shop now, drove 3 hrs in and returned on bus another 4 grrr...hopefully will be worth it and will not take forever....jejeje...
