• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

i have an 09 rs it was pre loaded when bought with lots of accessories

the mount for the back rest assembly for the rear passenger is what i am referring to
brp.jpg i had to remove it to change a blown tail light in taking apart the top and bottom parts of the mount i striped one of the stainless allen head screws that is on the outside of the mount underside

if anyone has the installation instructions that has the part list i could use the part number for them
i tried the local parts houses they have hex head bolts that are way to long
the hex head bolts will hit the plate it goes in so they are a no go

thanks
David

Just buy the longer bolt and cut it with a hack saw in between the threads to correct length. Problem solved !!! Just make sure the threads are the same on the new bolt. Easy fix.

The separate parts are not usually available for BRP accessories, but since this is hardware, you may luck out. I don't have the Sport Rack instructions, so I can't help with the part number, but I'm sure some other member can. A good hardware store should have a selection of metric socket head screws, if that's what it is. My neighborhood hardware even has a selection in stainless. If it is Torx, it will be harder to find.

It's a hex head, I just looked at mine. I agree, I dont think BRP will have that bolt and a part number for sale.

David, There is a post on Spyderlovers that shows what plastic needs to be cut off to allow for brake light replacement without having to touch your rear rack. Here is the link to the mod needed to replace the bulb. I did this right before Spyderfest '11 and had a bulb burn out. Took about 15 minutes to do the replacement. You just drop the rear tire splash pan for access.

PS I carry a spare bulb wraped in a towel + spare fuses and relay in the hollow cavity under the rack.

O.K., it ain't that hard...

Its a domed head hex screw. Take another one of the screws holding the plate on, take it down to one of the places the good people above mentioned, and get another screw. Pay attention to how close the thread are together. There are two types. Close and further apart. Betting on machine screws. (Threads close together.) Very important to get the threads right.

It doesn't matter if its a hex or a slot head. (Whose going to get up underneath and take a look. A dome head hides sins.)

If you can't find the right length, go longer. Can always cut a bit off holding it in a vice grip like arntufun said.

Losing screws into the Spyder abyss is frustrating! :gaah:
