There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. We are leaving for Spyderfest in the rain....well trying to leave.....battery does not have enough juice to start..but it almost does. QUESTION, How do you get to the positive side of the battery?

Can I take that red cap off and connect positive to there? It is a 2010 RT

Gene

On the RS: bike switch off, jump cables with your car battery on (red-red and black-black), wait 10-15 min, start and disconnect cables.

Yes, Both jumper posts are under the seat. The one with the red cap is the positive. Be sure and replace the cap when you're done.

--- I'd want to know the source of the problem with the battery before I headed out on an interstate ride. My 2010 RT A/C is in the shop right now for a dead battery. Turns out that the magneto quit charging it. The Spyder threw every error code imaginable when the battery voltage hit a pre-determined minimum. Finally, just as I limped into the driveway, the transmission quit shifting. That could be a ugly and unsafe event on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere! Good luck no matter what you decide, but please be careful...

Did they change the radio module?

No, no change to bike previously

Did they change the radio module?

And battery lived on a tender so it was always up to snuff. Magneto simply quit working on a ride. A very bad event on a bike overloaded with electronics!

Thanks for all of the help. Still won't start. IT ALMOST STARTS. I think the battery is at the end of it's life. It turns over but just won't start. I am sitting here trying to figure out what to do....I hate to try to change the battery myself. How hard is that to do?

Next question....where do I get a new battery from? Does walmart have one that fits? And The only thing I did was put on was a corbin seat. And I ride every weekend. It stated kind of slow the last few times I rode. I guess I should have changed it.

Gene

I don't know if Walmart has a battery that will fit or not, they probably do. But BE SURE to get either an Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) or Gel cell battery. The OEM battery is AGM. The battery lies on it's side and a commom wet cell battery is likely to leak on it's side. As far as changing the battery - I'm pretty slow and methodical but I'd guess it might take me an hour and a half to change it.

Gene, I believe the instructions for RT battery removal are in the owners manual, but I know from experience it is a lot easier if you remove the whole side panel. Here is the instructions from my 2012 RT manual:
Battery Location
The battery is located under the seat.
Battery Access
1. Open seat.
2. Detach gas shock.
3. Support seat slightly higher to allow more room.
4. Remove the battery access panel.
5. Disconnect pillion rider switch.
6. Disconnect rear heated grips switch(if applicable).
Any change of getting the dealer to send a Tech out to do it? If you arent used to doing this kind of stuff it might be worth the cost!

I got the new battery in the bike. OH it was alot of fun. So far I think they sold me a battery that was not charged, but they said it was fully charged. So here we sit with the bike on a charger waiting to see if it will start.
The dealership is 1.5 hour drive from my house. I wwill cross my fingers and wait and see.

If it was a dealer-prepped battery, I hope they at least filled it. Put a full charge on it before you try to use it, or it will never charge 100%.

Well at least you've got the new one in place! :2thumbs: Now let's hope that it can take in enough of a charge to get you out on three wheels!
Good Luck and please let us know for sure that you make it!

Glad It worked out. See you in a couple of days :doorag:

Well the good news is that I am not at my house. We are on our way to Spyderfest. Bad news......It is after midnight and we are in a hotel room for the night, Spyder will not start without it having a jump start. We will decide what to do tomorrow. Might try to ride all the way to Cowtown so we can be there first thing Monday morning. I need a mechanic....bad.....this battery thing has me wiped out.
