HELP - JT Air Filter Kit for 998 twin

Haze

Well-known member
I bought a new JT air filter kit for my 2013 Spyder STS - 998 Twin.
I receive 2 flat pans for the top and bottom of the air filter but no
thick throttle body adapter and barb fitting.
The thick (blue) throttle body adapter is shown in the #AF1 Air Filter Kit assembly instructions.
I assume the throttle body adapter acts as an intake venturi. Am I wrong?

My question - Is the (blue) Throttle body adapter needed for the STS motor?
Did I receive all the needed parts? How do I attache the crankcase vent to the intake?
See the image below from the installation instructions.
I've written to JT but have not received an answer.
Thanks, David C.

JT is a good guy with excellent customer service. He will take care of you. He might be tied up right now and not able to respond. Keep trying. I'm sure he'll make you happy.

Thank you to JT for great customer service.
I found the parts wrapped and packed inside the Air Filter.
All is good.
Best Regards, David C.

Awesome! I know anything can happen. But I was frankly very surprised when you said some major parts were missing from your kit. Not like JT to make a mistake like that. I am glad it all worked out. I think you're going to like the advantages that kit gives you. There has been a lot of talk about air filters on the board lately. So many rumors and wives tales that will never go away. Good to see that some are not swayed by these.

How much of a pain would it be to install one of those on my 2012RTL? And would it make a difference in performance?

Had to be.....

Glad you found the parts and can do the installation. I love mine but being the early models I added the vent filter, swaped to a K&N filter and added the pre-filter along with some ram air supply. You will be happy I'm sure...

Did you remove the Resignator? I have just spent 5 hrs trying to get it out 9 I have a 2012 RT. I am thinking about cutting it out, but I dont want to destroy it.
Wish JT gave more complete instructions.

Good luck.
I took the Resonator and the Air Box out. I now have lots of space around the engine.
The resonator was a real battle but it finally came out high from the left side. Multiple hours of sweat and tears.
I had to go to the parts manual to find the location of the mounting bolts and hose clamps.
I admit I had the Sawsall plugged in and ready but did not use it. Too many wires in the way.
Anyway the job is done and the Spyder now has a real bark when accelerating.

If anyone needs a resonator or air box send me a PM.

Cheers, David C.
