• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Help deciding whether to purchase a 2014 RT Limited

I'm deciding if I'm going to purchase a local to me
2014 RT SE6 Limited with 10k miles bone stock

it's in great shape and well taken care of but I have some questions:

1) what is the stock warranty and is it transferred to a 2nd owner?

2) what maintenance would be coming up as in, is there a valve check at 14k miles to be done or something else like that?

3) at 10k miles, it probably needs tires (I'm awaiting pics)...what's the approx. cost to replace the rear tire and separately the 2 front tires?

4) they can't find the gps unit that came in a box...what is that worth to lower the price of the sale?

5) has the 1338cc engine been found to be more bulletproof than the 998cc

6) I plan to ride with my wife at a combined weight of 475# without gear reasonably spirited at times...on this model, is it still highly recommended to replace the sway bar & links? What about suspension components like shocks?

any advice on what might be a good price for the sale ?

thanx much

$$$$$$$

How much are they asking for it ??????????
that would be my first question and then go from there.

2014 RT SE6 Limited with 10k miles bone stock

it's in great shape and well taken care of but I have some questions:

1) what is the stock warranty and is it transferred to a 2nd owner?.....billy told you ....

2) what maintenance would be coming up as in, is there a valve check at 14k miles to be done or something else like that?....THEY ARE SELF ADJUSTING :clap:

3) at 10k miles, it probably needs tires (I'm awaiting pics)...what's the approx. cost to replace the rear tire and separately the 2 front tires? .. if THE DEALER DOES THIS ...REAR $ 250 TO 300 ....FRONT $ 300 +.......I highly recommend going with car tires ....the General Altimax front and rear are the best rated that will fit

4) they can't find the gps unit that came in a box...what is that worth to lower the price of the sale?....I think to re-place $600.00 +/-

5) has the 1338cc engine been found to be more bulletproof than the 998cc.....MUCH LESS MAINTENANCE.....THE ONLY REAL ISSUE SO FAR IS THE D.E.S.S. MODULE, WHICH THEY MAY HAVE NOW FOUNF A CURE FOR

6) I plan to ride with my wife at a combined weight of 475# without gear reasonably spirited at times...on this model, is it still highly recommended to replace the sway bar & links? What about suspension components like shocks?.....:yikes:...I DO BELIEVE THAT IS QUITE A BIT OVER THE LIMIT ON ANY SPYDER.....NO MATTER WHAT SHOCKS / SPRINGS / SWAY BAR

any advice on what might be a good price for the sale ?....WELL TO GET A REAL WORLD NUMBER ...CHECK THE PRICES FOR LEFT-OVER 2015 RT LIMITED AT IMotorsports ( see home page ) I think they will sell it for $ 23,000 ( delivered ) ( with GPS )...........Mike
thanx much
see answers above in red............Mike

2014 RT SE6 Limited with 10k miles bone stock

it's in great shape and well taken care of but I have some questions:

1) what is the stock warranty and is it transferred to a 2nd owner? 2 years/24,000 miles. Most 2014's had an extended Best warranty as a promotional offer. If it has that, it transfers to the new owner.

2) what maintenance would be coming up as in, is there a valve check at 14k miles to be done or something else like that? Should have had an oil change at 3,000 miles. Next is called for at about 12,500 miles. Then serviced 9,500 miles later or once a year. No valve checks required on the 1330.

3) at 10k miles, it probably needs tires (I'm awaiting pics)...what's the approx. cost to replace the rear tire and separately the 2 front tires? 20,000 miles on my fronts. Need new ones at the start of next season. I replaced my first tire at 8,900 and am needing another new one at beginning of next season.

4) they can't find the gps unit that came in a box...what is that worth to lower the price of the sale? $1,000

5) has the 1338cc engine been found to be more bulletproof than the 998cc Seems to be. We have a couple here who put on more than 50,000 miles and no complaints. The 1330 is a much different and better ride--IMO. I have one of each engine.

6) I plan to ride with my wife at a combined weight of 475# without gear reasonably spirited at times...on this model, is it still highly recommended to replace the sway bar & links? What about suspension components like shocks? You folks are riding at pretty much the posted weight limit. I would beef up the suspension with different shocks and sway bar.

any advice on what might be a good price for the sale ? Check KBB for pricing in your area. Then Cycle trader and Craigslist for a range of what is right.

thanx much

You need to do your due diligence on the price.

I also recommend letting a dealer check it over and run it on BUDS so that you get the full information on any repairs and what maintenance was performed.

neither the 998 nor the 1330 motors are at all fragile. You do have less maintenance on the 1330 because of the increased mileage between oil changes and the self adjusting valve clearances. I think you will really enjoy that Spyder when you get it. Be sure to post some pictures

Found my Spyder (bought used)

CHA CHING: I went ahead and purchased a used black 2014 RT Limited from an owner 80mi away who needed to sell right away at a smokin' price.

I'm picking it up tomorrow.

Thanx everyone and hope to see you on the road.

I'm registered and looking forward to CajunFest next March.

The 1330 software is much more reliable, I have had no issues over the last 16k miles. Overall it is miles ahead of my 2011.

Not necessarily. The total load capacity, according to the owner's manual, is 494 lbs. Granted, that only leaves 19 lbs. for gear, but there is always some leeway in those gross weight specs (gotta keep the corporate attorneys happy), so I wouldn't be all that concerned. However, I would definitely recommend BaraRon's beefier swaybar and either his shock adjusters, or better than OEM shocks with spring pre-loads. The heavier you load the Spyder, the more you benefit from adding those things. I can tell you that from experience. ;)

:congrats: We're glad to hear that the right one finally popped up!:yes::yes:
