• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Help buying a spyder

The '12 is a 998 cc V-Twin. In '14 the RTs went to the new 1330 3-cylinder ACE Motor. There's NO comparison between the two power plants with respect to power/torque, and the maintenance required. More power/torque with the 1330 and much less maintenance required. Most here will tell you to get the '15.
Hope this helps

If you can afford either, the 2015 has a more powerful engine and 6 speed transmission and a lot of the small things that needed improvement over the first year RT have been improved... You will also find the new RT costs quite a bit more. I have seen them priced from $24K to $30K where the 2012 will be somewhere near $15K (more or less). The smaller V twin engine in the earlier RT is a bit peaky but it has plenty of get up and go. The suspension needs some help to maximize handling but the machine can be made just into what you want. I can't speak to the 2015 but it has a more relaxed and larger engine and another gear and very likely has a bit better mileage and may be more relaxed. Let the folks who own these models chime in. All the gurus on this site will tell you you need to spend the extra bucks but if you live near someone who will let you have a test drive OR a dealer who will let you drive both, that would be ideal.

Simple....

2015...:2thumbs: if you have the choice and price is not an issue. 2014 would be better priced if you want the same thing for less...

I'm going to buy a spyder. Need input on these two touring models. 12 rts-se5 or 15 rts-se6? Your thoughts. Thanks

I had a 2012 and traded for a 2014 and there is no comparison. When I first drove my 2014 it was like a totally different rig. I love the 1330 because it does not have to be revved up as much to shift. A whole lot smoother and quieter.

If you can afford either/or, I would recommend the new 1330 engine version. I have a 2011--same as the 2012 set up--and a 2014 RT-S. The difference between the two is night and day. Good luck on your hunt. Let us know what you finally decide.

Like others have already said, Get the 1330 ACE engine. Butt, look for a leftover 14 somewhere. You will save thousands. You also are not far from Pitbull. Give Len a call to see if he can hook you up. :chat: Tom :spyder:

+1 for one with the 1330 engine. But unless you just have to have a color offered only with the '15, look for a left-over '14 - or even a used '14.
