• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am traveling and have a problem. My spyder wouldn't start, I borrowed a charger and charged the battery for a couple hours. I got the spyder started and running. We rode for five hours. The next day i was ready to go and the machine would not start. Do I have to use a BRP battery? Is their a alternate battery?

If your traveling And are going to install it your self i would use a Brp battery. Because You know it's an exact fit '
Some after market batteries have to be Jerry Rigged in at the terminals.

:agree:

I have the odyssey pc680 and you have to jerry-rig one of the terminals to get the cable to connect.

Before you replace the battery, check the battery terminals (inside the bodywork) for cleanliness and tightness. Bad connections can prevent charging.

And check to see if any accessories or mods could be shorting out and draining the battery. When mine did this it ended up being one of my sidebag lights-- the wires had frayed and shorted out...

Stock battery is a Yuasa model number YTX24HL-BS. If you can't find one of those, then a Scorpion HYTX24HL is a direct replacement that fits perfectly in the stock battery box without any "rigging".

Best of luck getting the issue resolved.

Battery issue

I assume you checked the terminals for tightness. Have you added anything that might be draining even with the key off? Call me if you need me to help with anything. Those battery plus stores might be a good place to check for a battery short of a Spyder dealer. Thanks, Jon

I found a replacement battery. While I was waiting to get it charged I tried the spyder. It started up twice. Then the third time the diagnostic screen came on. I pressed the start button and nothing the screen went blank. I don't have anything to test the voltage on the old battery. I have not added any accessories. :dontknow::dontknow:

The first battery in my 2008 SE5 Spyder lasted 3 months and was replaced under guarantee at no cost to me. It koncked out while I was having lunch at home. My second battery was replace 5 days ago while it was still in good operating condition. It has lasted 27 months and though it was still good I knew its days were numbered. The inconvenience is great of my battery dying while I'm away from home so I don't wait for it to go "out" before changing. It's cheap insurance. I might add that I always have an automatic 1½ amp trickle charger connected to my motorcycles when they are not in use which is about 99.9% of the time.

The old battery more than likely has a bad cell 86 it.

Glad to hear you found a battery and are back on the road.
