i'm a new ryder too but i bought 2 helmets because i love the differences in each.
both have different strengths and weaknesses.
Nolan N43 Trilogy.can be open face, full, etc. tends to fog a bit more but has many different style options. has exhaust vents to make overall airflow good. face shield is a FULL face shield, which i love. lighter and less tight than my other helmet (i bought em intentionally tight since i am losing weight and my fat cheeks will go down). has internal sun visor.
Shark Evoline series 2. more positions for faceshield. better chin vent. paint scheme glows in the dark (i am a huge fan of increased visibility for night driving). chin bar can be rotated to a locked position on back of head and maintain aerodynamics (when stopped of course). warmer (and thicker) for those cool night rydes. faceshield is 3/4 so you can still "bugs in the teeth" when you want to.
have not ridden extensively in either, but love em both. now if they would only let the Nolan N43 AIR come over here i would be in heaven in summer!
Nolan N43 is cheaper, but still good. Shark Evoline series 2 is expensive, but worth it (IMO). just make sure you try on several helmets AND like the fit/look. but most important: Protection>Price. i could have bought helmets that were $100 cheaper (or even more) but i got helmets that i like, are good quality, and are safe (one even meets DOT and ECE standards).
