• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

about to buy a rts 2011 wife likes full face. are they too hot in summer? i like the shoei quest. heavy helmits are not good for me:helpsmilie:

Full face helmets can get hot but they are safe. Many have great venting and of course you can crack them open a little too. I have an issue with heavy helmets also. I have a HJC Carbon Fiber that is so incredibly light. That has helped me a lot and I no longer have a sore neck after long rides. You have to just try on a lot of helmets to find what fits and feels right. Good Luck.! and :welcome:

That HJC Carbon Fiber is very light weight and a great choice for a good all around riding helmet.

We have the BRP ST-1 hybrid helmets. It gives us the best of all worlds. Full face, vented full face, and 3/4 helmet. We usually wear the vented full face unless it gets really cold, then we just trade out the jaw to the solid. We carry the spare jaws in the saddlebags. We read the reviews on WebBike.com. We have back problems and found these were as lightwieght as the come.

The Joe Rocket Carbon helmet is close to the HJC, made by the same company, but with a few changes. Its real light and has great ventilation.

The model is the RKT101

If you get a full-face helmet, just make sure that it's got lots of ventilation slots that you can tinker with to customize the airflow...

I like my full face modular - that way I get the extra protection when riding but can flip up the entire front half when getting cooked at a stop light

:agree: :2thumbs:

we also use the givi/brp/st1 helmets .. really good solution - on the highways we use the full-version .. on the trips in town or along the coast we use it without the front ..

:agree::agree:not sure if you are getting the communication center with your RTS, but with it you can have the music piped in your
helmet and can talk with passenger over vox,and can also talk with other riders with the CB. And these are all things you
can add on as you like.

Hey Corky :welcome: I use a Shoei model TZR it is light weight . I have had neck surgery and so far it does not bother my neck but I have not rode with it a lot yet ,DOT and SNELL 2010 approved ,lots of venting and padding . I find it to be very quiet when the face shield is closed. I have tried an HJC modular helmet when snowmobiling and found it to rattle and be very loud.

You won't find the perfect helmet with the first one you buy ---- most of us own a collection---- I'm down to 5 right now--- and looking at another one soon.

www.webbikeworld.com does a good job of reviews on various models.

I'm currently looking at one of these:

Lightest full face helmet made -- just wish it had an internal sun screen.

Yes...find me a light one with an internal sun screen...I'm with ya on that...$600.00 a little steep...the non-carbon still looks great and maybe they'll go on sale somewhere? I have an HJC IS-16...great helmet for me...but heavy and a little loud...

That Nexx looks like a great helmet. I've been looking at it since I read the review on it several months ago. Just wish I could try one on. As you said, very light with great Peripheral vision. Just waiting for it to come down a few hundred dollars.

I wear half helmet and helmet should be a choice, not law.
I tried a full face helmet when I bought spyder and I rather not ryde than put on a full face helmet.
It's just me.
