• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Helmets?

Hey everyone, new Spyder rider here. Have been on Goldwings since '81. Picked up a RT Limited this past Saturday. Biggest question I have right now is what do you do with your helmet when you leave the Spyder when you are out and about. Have always used the hangers under the tail trunk on our Wings, found the "hanger" under the seat and Boy is that a joke. Flip front won't fit anywhere or maybe I'm doing it wrong. Anyway Thanks in advance for any help provided!

If you have a RT .................. Put it in the Frunk or the Right side saddlebag (right side is larger than the left side)

if you have any of the other spyders go to Lamonts store (on the home page) and look at the "Lidlocks"

and if you put your year and model spyder in your Signature then when you ask a question we will know which Spyder you are talking about.

Under the seat

There are two tabs under the seat that you can hook your helmet "D" rings to and close down your seat and lock your helmets to the spyder.

These are quite terrible, poorly designed, useless and did i mention terrible, and you wind up scratching your spyder with the helmet. Use the frunk, saddlebag or Lidlocks. just my .02 cents worth.

I have a full face Arai and it fits fine in the frunk of my F3 once the BRP guy at Spyderfest showed me how....Even with my Sena module on it and charging while in the frunk.

My Bell modular helmet fits in the frunk, but not in the right side saddlebag, which is a problem when riding two up. Got a pair of Lidlox, ridiculously easy to install, and a great way to secure two helmets. Go to the home page here, and click on Lidlox; they are a site sponsor. There is a short video on how to install them. If you do buy them, make sure that you have some blue Loctite on hand for the supplied attachment bolts.

Here is the link.

I just set mine on the seat, stuff my gloves in it, and drape my crash jacket over it. Been doing that for 10 years, 80k miles, with Goldwing and Spyder both, and haven't lost one yet. Also keeps people from being tempted to sit on it, or sit their kids on it.

At night at motels I do take it inside unless I have the full cover on the Spyder, then I will sometimes leave it on the seat.

I use a cable lock. Sitting on the back seat around the passenger grab rail. Get a little shower my helmet does not get wet inside.

If I'm locking it to the bike I just use an inexpensive bicycle cable lock through the passenger hand hold. Otherwise I take it with me or put it in the trunk.

I've been doing that for the past 30 years with my Goldwings as well as my cruisers. Now I've started doing it with my Spyder. Have never had a problem doing that.

All of the above...

I use a retractable Kryptonite cable lock to lock down both helmets on out RS. If solo it goes in the frunk....

 The "Insurance Guy" in me just threw up a little bit...
I never leave anything laying loose, if losing it would ruin my day! nojoke

Thanks

Thanks for all replies. I "think" I added the info to my signature, just in case it's a 2016 RT Limited, new. I really like the idea of the lidloks as I do a lot of 2 up riding. Thinking that's the way to go!

helmet holders

I use and have used a device called "Helmet Guardian" for the past ten years or so, I won't use anything else!

I have a license plate holder that has 2 helmet locks at the bottom. I just hook it there. Sometimes I even lock it.;)

Quite simple as IdahoMtnSpyder said. Put it on the seat or fasten the strap and hang it on one of the

handle bar grips. Last but not least take it into the Five Star restaurant you have stopped at for lunch. This

method is sure to start a conversation after that long , lonely days ride. Who knows, you might get lucky.

When I'm riding buy myself, I put my HJC full face in the Frunk. It sucks that a full face helmet will not fit in the side compartments. 1.5 inches taller and it would work.

A 15 foot pole lashed to the rigging with an alarm system ought to do it
Oops one to many at the Drury Inn on way to Indiana from sunny Fla

I love R&R put another dime in the jukebox baby!
