• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Helmets with built in visor question....

Okay, so have a helmet, 3/4 open face with a built in visor. I really like it but never used the built in visor. Finally did on recent 3 day ride and loved it. But......there's always a BUT, it does hit my big snout. My question is, has anyone else had this issue and resolved it, and if so, how? I was thinking of using my dremel with a grinding stone but wanted to check with folks out there first on how you resolved it.
Thanks in advance!

I've got an HJC IS-MAX helmet (Modular, with the integral sun-visor).
When it hits my snout, I just tip the "bucket" a little bit further back on my head, and the problem is solved!

You should be good with a mildly abrasive Dremel tool wheel. I'd mark the shield with a fine point Sharpie for a guide. Don't put a lot of pressure on it and it should work well. It will leave grind marks but they should be well out of your vision and shouldn't make any difference. You probably want to end up with something like this.

We too have the HJC. I just the other day noticed it has 2 stop points. If I slide it down slowly it will stop off my nose. If I push it to the second click I tip the chin up a little bit.

Grinding marks....

Once you get it where you want it you could always go after it with some fine wet sand paper or a nail file. The visor I mean, not your nose.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

NOSE is TO BIG

OH
When you said sun visor I thought you ment a visor not a sun shield like sun glasses
The sun glasses/shield on all of my helmets go up and down if it hits my big schnozzz
I just raise it a bit till it does not hit.
I have HJS, Shoei, Bilt & HJC helmets all with sun shields.... different helmets for
different motorcycles

Ordered an HJC hear they are the best with the visor comfort issues.. Could just be the guy trying to get a sale though... Time will tell lol.

I would caution against grinding on the sunshield to create clearance... nojoke
If your "World went pear-shaped"; that sharp edge would most certainly hit your nose.
It probably would even do more than a little bit of "grinding", on it too! :yikes:
:lecturef_smilie: Please make sure that you polish that edge to a smooth finish.

:agree:This is what I do. I have 1 full, 2 modular, and 2- 3/4 helmets and they all have the internal visor. I will never own another helmet without that feature. Only 2 of them come far enough to hit my nose. But when they do, I just do as Bob instructed and things are fine.

I've had the integrated shields as well, but now my wife and I have Bell helmets. They offer a "Transitions" shield. It is awesome!! The shield does exactly what transition glasses do in the varying sunlight. When it's bright, the shield tints dark, and when it's dark, the shield is clear. Not sure if other helmets offer this or not yet. Ours are almost two years old now, so I would assume there are other models out there that can be set up with the Transitions shield. At that time we paid right at $100 for each.
