• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Helmets and Comm system

I am really looking for ideas and/or suggestions on helmets and comm systems. I like the ST-1's with the system installed, but with all the other options I would need to add, it gets pricey. Thanks in advance for any help.

We had our dealer install 2 Sena SMH10's in the helmets and the SM10 in the :spyder2:Spyder RT-S.
These were ordered from the BRP catalog and we got the dealer to match the best Sena price from the web.
This way it came with all the correct cables to do the job.

We are happy and rocking on now.:ohyea:
The dealer thanked us for ordering it, was their first time at installing this techno stuff...that was the scary part..lol and the fact we're the first RT-S they sold.

Do a search here for Sena as more info is posted on this site about the topic in a few places.

We have..!!

HJC modular helmets and just went to the scala rider G9. Has FM radio, handles GPS, blutooth phone and intercom. Can communicate with 8 other riders up to a mile away. Still trying it out but works great. Ioho..good luck many choices..!! :dontknow:

Last month I purchased a set of the Sena SMH-10 from a SpyderLover sponsor, Dave's. My wife says she hears no wind or engine noise when I'm riding 70 mph on the interstate. I think it's a good setup.

Look at the Bell MAG-9 SENA. It's a 3/4 helmet with full face shield and 1/2 sun shade. Best of all is it's made to accept the SENA SMH10. Mounts into the lower left side of the helmet. You can see a video of both the helmet and SENA unit at RevZilla's web sight. I have this set up and it's lite and quiet at highway speed.

Have had super success with our Nolan Trilogy helmets and N-com Bluetooth system. iPhone, iTunes playlists and Garmin all linked to the helmets.

My wife and I just bought two of the new Bell Mag-9 Sena versions. We were going to get the Bell Mag-9's this year anyway and with the newly introduced Sena integration it was a no brainer. We have rode a couple hundred miles with them so far and like them better than our previous setups with Scalas. I bought everything through Revzilla since they have a easy return policy on helmets. I found the Sena-mh10's cheaper and they price matched. You do have to buy the adapter for the bell helmet and it adds $39 but it's worth it. You just clip the unit on when riding and clip it off when done if you want too. I lock the helmets on the bike then clip off the unit to lock it up. The speakers and microphone stay attached. Revzilla.com has a good 10 minute review on the helmet.

Lots of choices available here. None, real cheap if you want good performance. I have used Cardo and now have switched over to Sena SMH10's. The new Sena's work great around the house, but have not yet had the opportunity to field test them. A week or so, I am hoping.

Me and a couple of my friends have the Sena smh10's. very impressed with these units. Just went on a 1600 mile trip and they worked great. Was on the bike one day for around 16 hours using the Sena in some fashion (phone, intercom, music) the entire 16 hours an never ran the battery down. Would highly recommend!

We have used the Cardo Scala Rider G4 system for the past four years to communicate between my Spyder and my wife's. We had problems initially with loss of signal but after returning them to Cardo they upgraded the firmware and they worked fine.

We took our first trip of the year last week to Alabama for a few days and on the return trip the Scala system began to get fuzzy. I made sure they were charged up overnight but early the next morning my wife kept telling me I sounded like a bumble bee in her ears. We stopped and I swapped our modules thinking I would get the bumble bee sounds in my ears but that did not solve the problem. Eventually, we both had the problem so we rode the last four hours without contact. (Actually it was quite nice.... I hope she doesn't see this).

Today I bought the Sena SPH10H systems for both of us. We use half helmets and the Sena system for mounting on a half helmet is much superior to the two way tape used for the Cardo. I am now charging them up before pairing them and we will see how they perform. Based on what Lamont has told me and others have posted here, I doubt we will be disappointed.

Our next trip is scheduled for the end of this month and will be a little longer so that will be a good test.

brp intercom system

this system is as most of the BRP stuff is very low quality I had them install it onto my bike and the CB almost never works and my PTT button is broke wont communicate with passenger so now I got to take the Bike again to the dealer and leave it another two weeks to get looked at buy a out sode system they work better Rich

I am guessing the Sena's mentioned in the thread above were purchased from outside suppliers and not the BRP branded stuff.

I have not heard anything bad posted about Sena here--but could be wrong. :dontknow:

just installed the scala rider team set pro this afternoon on our helmets and took them for a test ride. seemed to work just fine. was only an hour ride, but served the purpose for intercom between the misses and me. the units are Bluetooth compatable, and offer up speaker that transmits to gps. as stereo speakers they transmit music from mp3 player, but we're too old to get into all that hi tech :cus:!

Have CB, radio, Garmin & intercom all BRP and no issues to date. Also use the Scala 9 system on another bike and it's a very nice system.

Note about helmets. Make sure you try several brands before you commit. Nothing worse than finding out it's to tight or not quite right after having already spent the money.

good luck whatever you decide.
