• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Helmet Temps

Where were the thermometers placed in relation to the interior of the helmet?

Makes no difference as long as they were in the same place. The experiment was to check relative temperature, not actual. Result was that color does not affect internal temperature

Interesting experiment. Where were the thermometers placed in relation to the interior of the helmet? Were they placed close to the upper-interior helmet shell (same positioning as your skull) or were they roughly in the center of the helmet.
If you look closely at the pics, you can see the thermometers inside the helmets.

The thermometers were in the center of helmets. Like I said, not very scientific but it answered my question. So now when I look for a new helmet, I'll look for any design/color that I like. I just want good ventilation now.

Having several inches of insulation (via air) would impact their readings.
I would venture to bet that the closer the thermometers were to the shell, the greater the difference would be.

" . . . The white one was warm to the touch on outside and the black was very hot."

My bald head would be definitely be closer to the shell than the center of the helmet.:ohyea:

Not really a big deal though, experimentation is half the fun.;)
