• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Helmet Storage

Usually a helmet will fit in the right side case. The helmet must be laid on its side and pointed in the right direction...usually with the round portion facing outward. I have never seen even an XL helmet fail to fit.

There are helmet hooks under the seat, but you may need to fabricate some extension straps or loops to use them if your helmet straps are short.
:agree:My scorpion XL helmet fits in the back right w/ no problem on its side top out. Or trunk straight in w/ visor up at you along with jacket/ gloves ect

Helmet locks

We use kuryakyn helmet locks. The locks screw onto the ends of your handlebars easily. A key is used to release the helmet. One of the best mods we have done to our 2012 rt.

There is a product that is a steel mesh bag with cable and lock. Put your helmet in your cover, then into the bag and fasten the bag to the passenger handle on the RT. I believe it is made by a company called pac-safe.

:agree: We got ours from Kewl Metal. They work great, and unlike the ones that you hang off the license, other bikers won't pee I your helmet!:roflblack:

I suppose some day I may regret it, but during the day at parking lots I just place my helmet on the seat and throw my crash jacket over the top of it. So far in 8 years no one has ever messed with my unlocked helmet, jacket, and gloves. The helmet fit nicely over the handlebar of the GW. At night, like at a motel, I do take it inside.

I used to do that also until someone stole my helmet and I was about 80 miles from home. Rode home with a bike helmet purchased from a nearby Walmart! Now it gets stored! :D

Good info as I am STILL waiting for my '14. Come on BRP.

Not to hi-jack this thread but after riding since 1968 I have never had a helmet stolen. I take my bluetooth off and put in compartments and leave my helmet on mirrors of my bike.

Has anyone had their helmet stolen? I can't think of much grosser then wearing someone else's used helmet after a summer of sweating etc.

I also use this.....Helmet Guardian - good for two helmets

it attaches behind the license plate and works wonderfully on my 2014 RTL.

here is a link

you may be able to find one cheaper elsewhere but these guys have always given good service and have reasonable prices

We wanted a good way to lock our helmets on our 2012 RT L -- we used the helmet guardian and have transferred it to our 2014 RT L. Works well for us. We have Nolan helmets and use a lock extension "T" which lowers the helmets a little.

Where do you get the lock extension "T".

Never mind me being the computer person that i am. I'm a programmer by day when i'm not riding my spyder or being a husband, father,son,son-in-law etc..., anyway I googled and was able to find several and fairly cheaply . I will check out the loacl bike shops this afternoon and see if they have any. By the way don't tell my boss that i'm on here when i'm supposed to be coding she may not like that to well. :yikes:
