There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

You will mostly hear information about Cardo, Sena, Nolan N-Comm and Chatterbox.
Most systems are very user friendly. They are either added on to the helmet or some helmets have "built in" spaces to just click the units in.
I have had experience with all of the above. Currently we prefer Sena. They are the quietest and transmission seems to be better than the others. We also have a set of the n-comms on our current Nolan helmets. The Sena will not fit on the current models.
Install is usually just clamp on, pull the liner, run the wires, place the earpieces into the proper area and your ready. All are charged with a charger and usually last at least a day. The n-com just snap into the comm ready Nolan helmets.
Any package of two will run about $300 or so. Worth it--as I like to be in contact with the other bike at all times.

+1 what JacCH said, Contact SL Sponsor Motorcycle Dave before you buy anywhere else, he sells the Sena systems and has the best prices and before and after sales service.
I purchased my system through Dave as our helmets had built in sockets for Sena transcievers, mounts, and speakers. Dave was also able to provide me the Custom Finless Bob cable that allows the Sena systems to integrate with our RT's audio system.

CARDO SCALA G9
i used the CARDO SCALA G9 for 8 yrs now...
the G9 has been replaced with the G9X... both work well together...
these are upgradable, and i also have the app: VOLUME ACE on my phone, which can controls the volume...
i has 5 or 6 FM channels you can program, you can program in an emergency phone number, and is good for upwards of 1 mile under certain conditions... i down-load updates about twice each year, and have no issues with this equipment...

A really nice feature on the SENA 20S is that you open the intercom between the two of you and you don’t have to fumble to push any buttons to talk to each other. Jie and I listen to our own music and when we want to say something to each other we just speak and the volume of the music is lowered. Some systems require you to push a button each time you open the intercom and this can be difficult to accomplish with thick gloves, etc
You ask about bike powered. Is this a requirement? The Sena units that have been recommended run about 8 hours on a charge so no real need to power from the roadster.
If bike power is a requirement then look at J&M and their Integratr unit. It can be bike powered and can be outfitted to work with corded or Bluetooth enabled helmets, but, for the money, you can get the Sena units and not mess with the cords. Just my two cents.

I just purchased the SENA SMH5 they are awesome. I can play my music from my iphone as well as making phone calls as well as incoming calls. They are the cheapest of the SENA'S but work very well.
