• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Helmet issue.. Would like advice

Was fit tested, wore it for 1/2 hr etc etc.

Cheek pads giving me chipmunk cheeks. More snug than I prefer. Called rep an he doesnt have alternate pads, recommends sewing them, creating a quilt like appearance. I thought he was nuts. Kept wearing it and it's gotten better but not great. Can't motivate myself to sew it as it seems bizarre.. So wearing my 3/4 HJC.

Anyone have this scenario?
 
That guy is correct. If you sew 1/4 in lines up and down the piece it will indeed make it smaller !!! No, I'm not a girl, Holly quilts and I know by watching her. :roflblack:


BTW, a helmet is supposed to be tight on your head. If it aint tight, it's the wrong size. :thumbup:
 
If your cheek pads are removable, you can soak them in water and set something heavy on them over night (like a brick). This worked well for me with one of my Shoei helmets.
 
Like said before Tight is good, But in time it will loosen,
It's not like my paints that seem to get tighter in time.:shocked:
 
Brick and water huh? Hmmm. I really have been trying to ditch the 3/4. I think I'll get it wet and sandwich it in a "C" clamp and two old books before I bust out a sewing needle.
 
just wear it and after a while you'll break it in.....I saw a video of Jay Leno getting fitted for a helmet by a rep from a major helmet manufacturer.....the guy put his big head in a medium!!!! I have a big head and no way could I ever fit into a medium...but every helmet fits differently....
 
I don't recommend making modifications to a helmet to get it to fit. Far better to get rid of it and buy a helmet that fits, preferably a brand with a variety of replacable pads. If you must do it, though, the cheek pads are the safest thing to modify. You may have to remove the backing and the material, reshape the pad (a little at a time) then replace the cover. Lots of work, but a better alternative than sewing or the C-clamp. I have the same problem with most helmets, so I wish you luck. In the end a helmet with different sized cheek pads was my only acceptable answer.
 
Hell, I figure J. Leno would be in a 3/4 with that chin he has...
I'll keep wearing till its perfect I guess.

I was always told and read that you want Chipmunk cheeks to secure your head from movement inside the helmet.
I dunno.. it seemed to work for me when I tested my helmet out
 
When you "tested" yours did you have a FF instead of a 3/4? If so, were you thankful you did? Helmet pics? I'm a conflicted 3/4. FF user
 
i use a Nolan N43 (can be full or 3/4) and it used to cause a bit of chipmunk cheeks. now it is fine. still tight enough that if i clench my jas it makes the helmet expand.
