• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

helmet communication recommendations

With a modular flip up helmet is there any issues with the boom mic getting in the way of the helmet when it flips up or down? Also how can I tell if my helmet is the early or late version?

I like Sena and wife and I use them. When they say pair them that is done by pushing a button on each head set at the same time and you will see the light on them change color, that will mean they are paired. easy as that. The Sena 50s come in sets and top of the line head set, if you can that would be what I recommend buy once and be done. "click: https://www.sena.com/product/50s

Will the 50s fit in my helmets with no modifications or will I have to do some cutting?

I do agree if you have the model made with the area for the Sena SRL2 then yes do get the SRL2, but if you have the older model Shoei Neotec2 without the area for the SRL2 then the Sena 50s. I was looking at the older model of the helmet when I posted the first time.

How can I tell which model helmet I have?

Yes and no. If you just pull the chin bar down, then yes. It only takes a second to tuck the mike against your face, close the lid then push it away.

In all likelihood, you'll have to do some cutting. The channels on the Neotech 2 were made specifically for the SRL/SRL2.

There's a date tag somewhere in the helmet but I don't remember what date became "late". Or, just in front of the right speaker cutout, see if the channel (for the boom mike cable) is straight or if it's wider next to the speaker cutout. If it's wider, it's a later model.

Again, the SRL and the SRL2 are IDENTICAL other than the addition of the plug to allow the option of either the modular boom mike or the full face stick on mike. The SRL is still available for the early model Neotech 2 helmets.

what kind of battery life do you get. In reading reviews (may be old) they talk about having four to five hours and the fact it can be charged while it is on?

If you're talking about me, I can ride all day w/o the battery dying. I don't think it can be charged whilst being used but I'm not 100% sure about that. I make sure it's charged before I leave out and don't worry about it after that. If I'm only riding for a few hours both Saturday and Sunday, I don't even think about plugging it in until the next weekend. Even then, I still have plenty of juice left.

If you were buying another helmet, I'd recommed (barely) a Cardo Packtalk SLIM (I hate things hanging off my helmet). In this case, I wouldn't recommend anything but the SRL/SRL2.

Make sure it's the SRL2 you really need. If not, buy the original SRL. As I previously mentioned, other than that little mike plug, both are identical.

:hun: Sounds more like battery on wireless headphones than communications headsets :dontknow: Headsets more 8~12hr or better range usually  varies per maker. Sena 20S EVO just got in July been doing great & even displays battery bar on phone screen when connected  have not tried charging in use, no need always been good, & would pretty well defeat the going wireless idea. :p ask Motorcycle Dave, he will help you find right fit :firstplace:
