Helmet buffeting (Turbulance)

What combination has worked best for people to remove the buffeting at the top of your helment?
I use a 23" windshield and I still get a fair amount when doing any speeds over 55.

Stock Shield is fine for me at speeds under 75mph anything over that i just lay on the tank and roll the throttle.

Stock is fine for me too - I definitely get more wind than on my old Harley but it doesn't bother me.

Laminar Lip

I have the BRP touring windshield with a Laminar Lip mounted at the top. I am 6'-0" tall and have the BRP riser installed. I rode over 11,000 miles on a trip to Alaska with this set up. :doorag:

I tried a couple of windshields and I love the BRP ultrasport windshield (the one with the V cut-out) because I am more sensitive to the buffeting noise than anything else. It is amazingly quiet. Probably won't be much protection when it gets colder, but that's what coats are for...

Unfortunately it isn't just the windshield height that matters. Shield width, the angle, the distance between the shield and your helmet all play as well.

Until someone releases a shield with an adjustable bracket (something like the I7 CHAD) there isn't going to be a universal solution.

For now ya pays your money and ya takes your chances.

I added a "Laminar Lip" to the top of my XL CALSCI windshield. Works fine and can be removed for hotter conditions or around town.

Alaska +11,000 mile trip

Attached are some photos of the bike with the Laminar Lip.

I rode from Davenport Iowa to Alaska July 18th - August 20th. I visited Glacier, Waterton, Banff and Jasper National Parks on the way up. I rode the Alaskan Highway, Top of The World Highway between Dalton City and Chicken AK, Dalton Haighway to the Arctic Circle, Denali National Park, down to Homer spit and to Valdez, so I hit most of the highways in Alaska. I took the ferry from Haines-Juneau and Juneau to Prince Rupert I visited Mt. Rainer, Mt St Helens, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Badlands on the way back. I visited Can_Am dealers in Calagary, Fairbanks, Wasilla, and Lacey, WA. Had the valves inspected by Team CC in Wasilla.
I only saw one Spyder on the road in Red Lodge, Montana. I now have 19,000 miles and am waiting to meet another Spyder coming at me.

I'm waiting for the fully adjustable windshield that Industries7.com will have available soon. A prototype was evaluated by someone on this forum (some time back) and it sounded like the best Spyder windshield yet. It's adjustable for different riding conditions. The height and angle are both adjustable.

I contacted them a short time ago to find out how close they were to shipping. The reply was that they had made some changes to better protect the area around the hands and they were about two or three weeks away from production. :2excited:
