Question -- I have seen on Youtube that some people here in the states have the new Spyder RT . I thought they wern't going to be avaliable until early next year. How did they get one early?

BRP start a program they called the "RT5". They gave 5 lucky people a RT to test and evaluate for the next few months.

The dealers should be getting their demo RT units this week and next week. The RT-S that were pre-ordered should start shipping next month through February. After that all other RT will ship.

Trike to Spyder

I sold my 96 Goldwing Trike (CSC) in Sept and bought a Spyder SE5. I've put 1K miles on the SE5 and am getting pretty comfortable with it. I like the smaller size and its agility. This is my first v-twin and it felt really rough after that silky smooth flat 6. The GW likes to run in the 2500 to 3500 rpm range while the Spyder is happiest in the 4000 to 7000 range. The GW trike catches much more side winds than the Spyder and I like the smaller fairing and bodywork. I'm a recreational rider and think that we ride to be out in the air.

I have a fix/change list. The hand grips are too small for my hands. My senior limbs are folded up a little too much on those high foot pegs. I really miss the hand brake especially in the twisties. Probably BRP's biggest mistake in my book. Floor boards or risers (or both) are high on my wish list. I'm trying to decide which to do first. Once I relocate the license plate the rear fender is going away. I have the Hindle. Like the looks lots but it is pushing the edge of my social conscience. pps: Luckily I have the OEM in the garage.

The GW is a great machine but the 'smile factor' on the Spyder is way higher. Go for it!! You'll love it!
