Hello Spyder Lovers

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I fell in love with the Spyder the first time I saw a picture and knew right away I had to have one. I finally got my promotion at work and as soon as a couple of bills are paid off I'm going to start the process.

A little about myself: Female 34 YO. I have had my "m" on my license for a few years now. I took the MSF class, passed, and purchased my first bike. After some unfortunate events I had to sell the bike. Anyway, long story short, I bought a 250cc bike a couple months ago to get back into riding. I'm trying to save money and get bills paid off by December, and would like to get a Spyder.

I have enjoyed reading all your posts and feeling your excitement. What is the best way to go about getting a Spyder? I was thinking about May or June next year. I was wanting the Manual, but after reading I think I want to get the SE5. I'm in Indiana. With the wait on receiving a Spyder, is it realistic for me to think I could purchase in December for maybe a delivery in May or June 09?

Thanks for letting me join, looking forward to reading more posts and getting ready to know all of you.!!!!

:welcome:

My guess would be production by next May would have caught up with demand and no wait time on the SM5 model..

As far as the SE5 I would guess the same would be true but who knows at the pace of release right now.. All orders should be filled by Nov 30th so there shouldn't be a problem.. JMHO

Contact your local dealer and at least test-drive one and keep in touch as the Dec time-frame approaches and I'm sure they will know better but if you stay on here the information will probably be more accurate and up to date ;D

Once again :welcome:

:welcome:
my guess is that once the SE5's start showing up later this summer & the current backlog is gone, there will be little or no wait.

Welcome Aboard,

I would think by the time you are ready that production would be on schedule and virtually no wait. I hope

things go well and you reach all your goals early. Good luck and :welcome:

I got rid of my Harley for this - and since I just got it, I haven't ridden it much but when I did ride it all I can say is I LOVE IT - WAY BETTER THAN MY HARLEY! Gonna be a good riding day this Saturday - I am going out on it ALL DAY LONG.

Do have a question for you. If you have motorcycle experience, why have you chosen the SE5? Not finding fault, just curious what specific features made you choose that. it might help others with this decision. Most folks that go this route are not used to a motorcycle clutch.

Welcome 8legs and best of luck for an early delivery.
I absolutely love my Spyder and use it for a daily driver since early March. I have over 5,000 miles on it and that impresses the dealership! By the end of March, I completed the motorcycle training course and have my Calif. m1 lic. I did not need it but thought since I waited until the young age of 50 to start street riding, it would be good to learn some manners/driving skills. I am the only female Spyder ryder in our small county...I have seen a few testing the waters but I am the only serious freak. My Harley-driving husband agrees that the Spyder is a great ride and steals it every once in a while...he said it is more fun to drive than his bike. We both agree that we will buy another Spyder in a couple of years and it will be an SE5 (cause my other car has paddle shifting and I wanna play). Meanwhile, my other ride, the '06 Convertible Corvette, remains lonely in the garage. Gotta ride my Spyder!

No special reason or medical excuse really. I liked the idea of not having to pull on a clutch. If I read correctly, the Spyder will downshift for you???? Don't really remember, but I just really liked not having to mess with a clutch. I ride a Yamaha Raptor and my little 250 bike in my free time and can use a clutch well. I thought it would be nice having one less thing to worry about.

Guess I am not the only crazy turning 50 woman. I never have ridden a bike but fell in love with the syder clutch and all. Took the course also friends thought I was crazy. Ride every change I get only problem have to share with hubby. :joke:

Thanks. I think that is the most honest and straight-forward answer going. Do it because you want to. They say it really packs some performance, too, BTW. Should be fun.

You're not alone. My wife is 54, and this is her first motorcycle. I have been trying to get her riding for 35 years, but it took the Spyder to do it.

Hey, I'm close, almost 46 and loving the ride. Only previous experience (if you want to call it that) is my 150cc scooter last summer. We are not crazy, just a heck of a lot of fun.

I have had my motorcycle lic. for almost three yrs. Owned a Buell Blast and had fun putting around on that. Bought the :spyder: after my husband showed it to me on line. Fell in love with it and went to Mass. to test drive it. Ordered it right then and there and had to wait for winter to pass. Got the call and went and picked it up and brought it home to Maine in a UHaul as there was still snow on the ground. I just turned 51 but not over the hill!
:welcome:
