• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Heli Bar riser/pullback especially for the Spyder

We too have Helibars and would not trade them for anything - :2thumbs: I like the way the bike handles with them - I'd do it again in a heart beat

You know, there is just too much to consider as we finalize what BRP add ons to get at purchase while also considering what future aftermarket parts I want.

You guys don't have a husband looking over your shoulder asking you "Why would you want to do THAT??" It's like I have to get this correct right off the bat. It's driving me crazy!

Marilyn:

I don't agree that you need to "get it right off the bat"... unlike a car (4,6 8 cyl options; auto, manual transmission, etc etc.) a motorcycle LIVES for after market "things". I feel you have two choices to be made right away: color and SE5 or SM5 -- the rest can be added when YOU want.

Besides, ordering "stuff" is what helps keep UPS trucks on the road; my new Corbin seats arrive via UPS Friday..:ohyea:

Yeah- we all keep stimulating the economy by ordering all this stuff!:D

Many things you might want to wait on so you can get a feel for your Spyder first, but I really think the risers are a no-brainer.

:agree: Risers are definately the best mod to increase handling and save your wrists some aching as well.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all for adding your experiences to this.

This is such a big and expensive venture for me. I don't have much experience on a motorcycle so can't say I've ridden regularly. A regular bike took way more upper body strength than I had anticipated. (2 surgeries in my left shoulder, 1 surgery in my right) I just couldn't make a regular habit of riding so it was like getting on a motorcycle for the first time every time I rode. It was not confidence inspiring even thought I actually rode quite well.

I was stunned by how successul I was riding the Spyder on the test ride. It was awesome. Everything I had imagined riding could be. I had absolutely no problems controlling the Spyder. Now, the question is do I want to do this badly enough? How can I know for sure? Well, I know there are no guarantees in life. If I get the Spyder I will build up my condition to riding gradually. I can promise no more.

Thanks all for listening to my doubts and rambles. I don't know if getting the Spyder is a sure thing yet or not. I know I'd have no hope of getting one if this forum didn't exist. So Thanks again.

Going along with a number of these suggestions, I think you'd be hard pressed to get every "necessary" mod done to your Spyder right off the bat and have every one of them be the best possible thing for you. Ask those who have been through two or three (or more) exhausts or windshields looking for the perfect one. I bet I've bought at least 5 items for my Spyder (some of them fairly pricey) that didn't work out quite as I hoped and I ended up selling them or now have them sitting in my garage. That probably has a better chance of happening to some of us newer bikers as we don't have the miles and mod experience of those who have ridden for years.

I put the (or more) in there for you and lamonster's exhausts and my windshields. :D
