Heated Grip, Fuse

Can someone please tell me where I can find the fuse that powers my heated grips on a 2014 RTL. Started out Saturday on a ride and couldn't get my grips to heat. Checked manual but not seeing where to look. Any help appreciated. Had lights installed at the Bayou. Possibly wire got unplugged??? :bowdown::bowdown:

If the horn works the fuse is good. The grip heaters, both driver and passenger, and rear suspension are all fed through the load shedding relay. Check the rear air shock operation. If by chance the load shedding relay is not working then the suspension won't work either. If the ACS works but the grips don't, then look at the connections for the grip heaters. Check the passenger grip heaters. If they work and the driver ones don't, then the problem has to be in the wiring to the front grips.

Remember, engine has to be running for the grip heaters and ACS to operate.

I have a 2012 Can Am Spyder RT-SE5. The horn works, and one can feel the heat from the grips if you're not wearing gloves. And the switch for the passenger hand rails is illuminated when the switch is turned on. But it makes no difference whether the switch is on high or low, there's actually no heat warming the hand rails. Not sure what the cause or reason might be.

But it makes no difference whether the switch is on high or low, there's actually no heat warming the hand rails. Not sure what the cause or reason might be.

There have been reports of clamps, like with cup holders, on the handrails breaking the heater wires.

Checked rear grips and they work great, but nothing on front grips. What is the best way to gain access to the wires? Are the front & rear heated grips on a different circuit since one works and the other doesn't?:banghead::banghead::banghead:

I missed one. The fog lights are on the same circuit from the load shedding relay. Do they work? According to the wiring diagram for the 2013 & 2014 RT the wire feeding the fog lights and the front heaters are are connected together in the harness that goes to the switch cluster. The connector for that harness is on the left side above the oil tank.

Do you have fog lights on your bike? What kind of lights were added at the Bayou? What kind and where was a switch for the added lights installed?

Heated Hand Rails

The Spyder is over at the local dealership, and underwent a diagnostic today. Have no idea of what they found out. There is a cup holder, clamped to a handrail, but the handrail stopped warming sometime before the cup holder was installed. There is heat to the handgrips, but it's best not to be wearing gloves, so that you can actually feel the heat when the switch is set to high.

Spyderpops installed LED Headlights & LED Fog lights, Spyderlyter Fred installed LED's in my mirrors for turn signals. All lights work correctly.

PM or call both of them to see if they can offer a suggestion based on what and where they were digging around during the installs. At this point the most likely thing I can think of is the grip heater wire has come loose from the switch, or it has pulled loose out of the harness connector. But then again, if it had pulled loose from the connector the fog lights wouldn't be working. There are no connections in the grip heater wire between the harness connector and the switch cluster.

Another question: Are both left and right grip heaters dead? If so, that indicates the connectors between the harness going to each grip heater from the frame harness is not loose. I'm still inclined to think the problem is in the harness for the switch cluster, like a loose connection on the grip heater switch.

I am with you on the plug has come loose from the switch as the likely culprit.

So does the switch light up when the key is turned on? If it does the switch is still plugged in. If not that confirms it.
