• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Heat ?

Questions

New member
I have a 2011 can am spyder rt. I have installed a heat deflection kit on the right side however, I still find excessive heat from the right side on warm days on a 1 - 3 hour ride. Anyone have any suggestions ????? I am also considering upgrading to a 2016 RT-SE6 ANY suggestions as to heat problems such as I have described above ????? I live in SC so, it gets very warm here. I would appreciate ANY suggestions !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU,

Pull the bottom pans out from under the bike...
There's been about 116,000 threads about reducing the heat from the radiator outlet...
(And about 116,000 cures also! :D)

I too have a 2011 rts this is what I've done I put heat deflectors in both upper and lower right side plus I added baker air wings and that my friend has solved all my heat issues even the heat coming from under the seat you see the air wings are adjustable so you can direct air right at the crotch area and lower leg area but all these combinations I feel were necessary. and it gets even hotter here in texas than sc. oh I put 2in holes in that bottom pan too

Try this..

With the modifications they made to the 13'spyder you are now able to get those vents and use them on all model RT'S up to and including the 2013. This will help your heat issues but there will always be some heat on hot days.

One fella took about a Chrome 5" exhaust end-tube, and hooked it to a block-off plate for the outlet.
It routed the heat further outboard, and away from his feet... :2thumbs:

If you are considering upgrading to a 2016 RT, that is one way to solve the problem. They did a lot of re-engineering of the radiator heat dissipation issue with the 1330 engine, and folks here report that pretty much resolved the issue for good.

As for your 2011, Chupaca's suggestion (two posts above) will help some with the right side heat as well as engine compartment heat. When those vents are installed, the internal side acoustic panels are also removed, which really opens up that area and allows a lot more air into the engine compartment. Wrapping the exhaust headers and installing the cat by-pass (removing the cat) will also help greatly with engine compartment heat. I've done all these things, and my 2013 RT rides fairly comfortably now.

I did not have the extreme heat issue on my 2013 that others had. SO saying that. I kinda miss the heat this spring on my legs during cool rides. Is this sour grapes? :hun:
