• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Getting my RTL on Tuesday. never rode one, been on Harleys. anyone who has ridden Harleys knows of the heat up thru the seat from the rear cylinder and exhaust. makes one think of the Christmas carol about roasting on an open fire! is this an issue on the RT's? gonna be a long couple days!

This should not be an issue, even if you get some heat it will be mild compared to the heat on a Harley.

this time of year you might like a little "heat through the seat"
as far as unintentional heat, I have never detected any on mine,
and I have sat in some gridlock on hot days too.

No heat thru the seat on our RT, but my wife complains about the heat from the radiator vent trying to melt her right leg while riding on the back. Im not Mr. Safety so I noticed it also while wearing shorts on the back, but not as bad with jeans on. Yes, I ride on the back while the wife drives! Thats one of the reasons I kinda like the Spyder, we get to share the brunt of a long ride together or if one of us gets too tired to drive or a certain dummy drinks to much at a concert. Ergos also kicked my butt at first but Im getting used to it now.

Not to worry....

You'll not have that problem, may be quite cool if you were suffering like that before...:roflblack:

Nowhere near Harley hot. Mine gets a little on the right foot and the glove box, but that's about it.

thanks folks, more I read about these bikes the more I am sure I made a good decision.

I purchased my RT in June and rode just about every day, all summer long in temperatures well over 100 degrees without noticing any extreme heat on my legs or butt. I've ridden Harleys and know how intense that heat from the heads and pipes can be, so you will be very pleased with your Spyder.

My wife complained of hot seat on our 14RTL. We live in Texas and get lots of heat. We cut up a reflective auto windshield cover to fit under the seat and it works great.
