• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Heat shield for my 2013 RTS SE5

I posted this earlier under RT Touring, andrealize that it should have been here in Mods:
I have a 2013 RTS SE5 and quickly learnedwhat it means to be "hot footin it" down the road. As I see it, theshield at the right foot is designed to direct hot air onto the right foot, which is located very close to the opening. So, I decided to perform surgery. This fix works great for me and did not cost anything. Of course if I want itback to the original, I'll have to purchase a new panel... The picture belowshows what I did.

 That looks pretty sharp! :firstplace:
Can you telll us all a bit more about how you did this?
It is really pretty simple, and a little crude, but I'll try to clarify. The fin actually points the heat directly at your right foot. So, the first thing I did was to take the fin off and ride without it. The heat was much much less. I then decided to cut off the fin as you see in the picture. The portion that was cut off has an inside piece held on by two bolts. I removed the bolts and used the inside piece to make the shield portion to direct any remaining heat away from the foot. I had to modify it to fit the opening and just fastened it in place. It think it looks reasonably fitted. It really does eliminate the heat that was directed to the foot. My wife and I will be at the BBQ if you want to take a closer look. Richard Huddleston:bbq:
