• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Heat on the LEFT side

So my wife's RS-S SM-5 has been throwing some heat on the LEFT (not right) side. Took it to the dealer and told them to check the Y-Gaskets and replace if necessary. Dealer did not see the replacement being needed, so the dealer owner and tech recommended a exhaust wrap where the exhaust tube is on that area. I bought the ThermoTec's Original Exhaust Insulating Wrap and when I went out to test it, it smoked like there was no tomorrow, burning the wrap. Luckily it happened near home, so I went back home and letting it cool down while I look for recommendations or if I am missing something...:dontknow:

I have only had my Spyder for 5 weeks but was getting a hot left leg. Last week I wrapped the exhaust header for the front cylinder of my 08 GS with "lava tape". Glass fibre tape impregnated with lava rock.
There was no smoking on running the engine & it has helped but not cured my hot left leg.

I put 2 layers of 2" tape on & anchored it at each end with ss hose clamps.

:popcorn::popcorn:

Keep the suggestions coming. I read some lava tape.
I don't like the machine to be smoking down the road, it was pretty hot when Erick brought it back home. Its already hot as it is here and I'm getting ready for good weather and riding again.

I used Titanium Exhaust Wrap by DEI and no smoke and it looks alot nicer. It works better than any wrap I used in the last 45 years. Take a ride on a windy day for about 150 miles without stopping for more the 1/2 hr. at a time. It takes a few rides to get rid of all the smoke.

If they took it apart enough to actually see the OEM gaskets.. they usually get ruined during the process.

Replace with the Honda gaskets.....that will help...

I have a feeling they haven't... they were only guessing based on millage (almost 6K). Althought they are a good dealer, I am starting to loose faith in them. After taking more than a month just to get the trailer module issue fixed on my RT, they have left me with a big question mark about them ever since...

They may be right . when I replaced the right side gasket at 10,000 it just about fell off in pieces BUT even the last time I Checked (20,000) The left was fine and I,m at 21,000 miles? Climate may have something to due with it.
