HEADS UP ON THE NEW 2014 RT BACK RESTS

In case your looking to buy a back rest for your new RT, the stock back rest will not fit on a comfort seat. So in short, make sure your not thinking about up grading to a comfort seat with a back rest unless your have a lot of money. Just check out page 46 and 47 in the toy book. This just doesn't seem right to me.:banghead:

So I'm confused; according to the information on BRP's website, all Spyder RTs come with Ultra-Comfort Touring Saddles. So if the "Comfort" seat is an upgrade, why would they call the stock saddle a "Ultra-Comfort". The stock seat sounds like the better of the two. Can someone clear this up?

Texas, I understand your confusion. They really need to come up with another term besides comfort for the seats. The "Comfort" seat is cut 2" further back and it is also firmer than the stock seat. I noticed also that there are two different back rest part numbers for the stock and the comfort seats. Utopia also had two different part numbers for the stock and comfort seats.

What gets me is that they are not offering the comfort seat and backrests in the two toned colors.

So then when those who are lucky enough to have the new '14 model talk about the comfort of the seat, I wonder which one they are really talking about. I don't know how to do it here, but it would be nice to see a poll for those who have the 1330s, who has which seat, and how many miles can they travel on it without getting uncomfortable.

How about referring to them the same way the previous models did. Stock seat and the Comfort Seat. The latter being the aftermarket replacement cut 2" further back.

I do not think that anyone who has a 2014 has the Comfort Seat yet.

Tried out the comfort seat at Jim Potts Motor Group on a 2014 RTL. I'm to short with the stock handle bars for it to be comfortable.

Brp web-site says that the 2014 RT models come with an ultra-comfort labeled seat. Sat on one at the MC show and it felt much better.

They have always used the word Comfort to describe their seats which leads to much confusion when they call the optional seat the "Comfort Seat" Maybe they should call the stock seat a) Stock Seat b) slightly uncomfortable seat and the "Comfort" Seat a) Optional Seat b) More Comfortable Seat :roflblack:

I'm told by my dealer (Elk Grove Power Sport, CA) the a floor model will be fitted with a comfort seat and a back rest to match so you can try the stock seat and the comfort seat. They tell me the comfort seat backrest has a rail system it sides into and the stock seat has a round type system in it. I wanted to order the heated seat with the backrest but I'm concerned about the 2" setback and the lost of passenger seat area. Maybe BRP needs to hire folks that can put together a catalog that is correct and would take out some of the confusion of what they offer for their products. Still waiting to see my new 2014 White LT and go from there.:dontknow:

No..!!

If indeed the back rests are not compatible, as indicated in the book, it is a bad, user friendly issue for us new owners.

I can see the fact that people may want an additional option for a seat beyond the OEM version. I have purchased two comfort seats for two different :spyder2:'s. I found the OEM versions too soft for my liking. It is bad enough to fork over $500 for a different seat, but $500 for a different back rest--that is just going to far IMO.

Will plan on going with the OEM for the first 500 miles or so with no add on backrest. If I am satisfied, then will order the backrest.

If the OEM does not suit my liking, I have some other options and may or may not go with the optional BRP comfort seat.

The fact that the comfort seat seems not to come in the two tone is also a downside, IMO of course.

Will the Comfort Seat (the 2" further back one) from 2013 RT fit on the 2014 RT? Kept the factory seat when I upgrade and could re-install if I trade up.

When I talked to BRP about the mis-information in their 2012 catalog, they told me that the problem had to do with translating from French to English. They also had no intensions of standing behind their advertising.

I call my seat heated Corbin with the Lamonster cut !If I could have ordered the heated seat from the factory I would have gone that way but because I have to order it seperatly as an option may as well get the Corbin for a few bucks more .:dontknow:

I think it will but am not 100% positive. Now if I was real nice I would try to put an old seat on the 2014 but I'm not that nice. :roflblack:
