• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Heads-Up Garmin Zumo 660 GPS

What does Heads-up mean...is it a different mounting position at eye level?

It could also mean 'North Up' as the direction shown on your GPS versus 'Heads Up' as the direction you are heading. Or in other words, the GPS always shows North (North Up) on the display or the real direction (Heads Up) you are driving.

A Heads Up Display is one where the the information is shown on or near the line of sight. On a fighter aircraft, it is superimposed on the windscreen. Technically, a GPS mounted high on the dash is not HUD, but in practice, if you can see it without moving your head, it would function about the same. A true HUD GPS would project a skeleton map or directional arrow onto the windscreen or helmet visor. None do, that I know of. Some manufacturers call certain of their display orientations "heads-up". That is their own terminolgy, and means nothing outside of their product.

A true heads up display projects the information on to the windshield and allows the viewer to look through the display which allows the viewer to never take his eyes off of what is in front of him. Not to be confused with a small device mounted closer to windshield height. A few years back Cadillac offered it as an option along with night vision capability. Pretty cool for back then.

It's tricky. You have to pry the dash apart where the safety placard is located. This what I had to do to secure the mounting bracket to the top of the dash visor. Make sure you get the mounting foot straight befor drilling the mounting holes.
You either route the power cable through that same area or down across the top of the visor dash.
Mine is wired so there is always power going to the mount.
