• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi all,
I was riding today with a guy that has a 2013 GSS he was behind me and I kept noticing in my mirror that his right head light kept going bright and then dim stayed dim mostly anyone have this problem?
thanks in advance for any help
Leon

I am guessing it has to do with the lights being on "low" beam. There is a shutter that rises up when on "high" beams. In the low beam set up, it appears that one or both lights may be flashing as the :spyder2: moves up and down going down the road.

Changing the setting to "high beam" operation seems to alleviate the problem.

The HID lights are very bright.
It could be that you were simply viewing the increase of light intensity based on the focus of the light shifting through your field of view as the bike bounces up and down.

hi Three Wheels,
I see what your saying but if that were the case, shouldn`t it be happening with both lights not just the right one?
left one didn`t seem to dim at all

Flickering..!!

the shutter system is tricky and is known to cause many to pull off the road ahead of you for that reason. Using a single filament bulb they create the hi/low beam with the shutter. When on low beam it tends to bounce causing the flickering. On high beam it dosen't. Many ryde with the high beam at least during the day...RT's with the plastic shieding over the lights will flicker red and blue leading to more confusion...

As others have said this is the shutter system that causes a flicker affect. I also suspect the right one flickers more because it's set slightly higher and also because the Spyder low beams are angled up on the right to illuminate the edge of the road more.

You'll find if driving behind something at night that the top of the low beam jumps up and down a surprising amount when you go over bumps, accelerate etc and so that gives this bright/dim affect.

I've had several drivers flash me at night even after I spent a lot of time making sure my lights where right on spec with the manual. I've now set up my lights so they are slightly lower than spec and the right one is slighter lower than the left (well actually the other way around as we drive on the left but I translated that for you americans:-)) Not had any issues since.

It could just be he light the right side light is aimed a little different . When I'm behind a vehicle the left light looks dead straight the right side looks to be pointing little bit more down.

Know about the gettin flashed deal. Finally got mine adjusted low enough to not get flashed but now i can pick night crawlers (low beam).
Also noticed the right was little higher and to the right. ( maybe to see better on the side of the road, animals debris ect):dontknow:
