• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HD ever manufacture an automobile?

Maybe the wrong forum to ask this on but after all, many of us were riding 2 wheels before the spyder. :ohyea: Did HD ever manufacture an automobile?
Somebody here at work says he saw one at a musuem. I don't know where the musuem was or anything but thought I would ask ya'll anyway. Supposedly made in the late 80's.

NO THEY DID NOT. WHAT HE IS PROBABLY REFERING TO IS WHEN AMF OWNED MAJORITY STAKE IN HD. THEY PUT THAT STUPID LOOKING AMF SIGNIA ON THE HD'S. ANYWAY, AMC OWNED JEEP AFTER PURCHASING IT FROM KAISER , REMEMBER THE JEEP EAGLE? HE MIGHT BE THINKING OF SEEING THE AMC INSIGNIA ON A VEHICLE BUT IT WASN'T AN AMF OR HD.. AMF ALSO MANUFACURED BOWLING BALLS! SO YOU CAN SEE WHY HD GOT A BAD RAP FOR QUALITY IN THE 80'S. THANK GOD WILLIE G BOUGHT EM BACK!

...and they weren't really all that bad of a sled! Then the first gas crunch killed 'em off... :cus:
(Rode one just a little bit... my first Harley!)

HD HISTORY

I would guess most HD riders would say the AMF era years were not the best.
History/photos on American iron, go to wheelsthroughttime web site. (I do not know to do this on here.) The owner, Dale Walker is the most knowledgeable person in the world. His museum in Maggie Valley is outstanding. Do not miss it, if you are coming to Maggie Valley. It is worth a trip just to see it.

:hun:Now THAT'S a stretch! I ve seen many "stupid" AMF insignias on HDs and on bowling pin setups, and never put the two together..AMF..AMC? Possible, I suppose. :)

More importantly, thank God AMF bought HD out and held them afloat until Sir Willy could afford the buy back, or there would be no HD today.

I'm a non-aluminum HD fan at heart.:D

:agree: While I'm not the biggest fan of them, I've got to admit that they're certainly a major force in the market!
