Having trouble opening/lifting the Drivers Seat - anyone else? Any fixes/solutions?

I took delivery of my Standard Canyon today
I want to fit a battery charging/maintainer lead on the Battery
I am unable to lift the Drivers seat to gain access
I Pushed the key down and turned the key 1/4 turn clockwise to the seat opening position
In fact the key would push down but wouldn’t turn I don’t want to break the key off in the ignition switch or break the connecting cable to the seat catch
Anyone else had this problem and was it fixed so it works normally or any one can suggest a solution that would be helpful

I went through exactly the same problem with my Canyon. I finally went back to the dealer for help and this is what I learned. Just turn the key gently to the full clockwise position; just like the starting position. Then push down and turn it clockwise some more. You will be working against a heavy return spring so it will be stiff but trust in the process. It might also help to press down on the front of the seat (to reduce pressure on the latch) as you turn the key but you will feel the key give as the latch releases. I put a dab of grease on the stud under the seat after I got it off and that seems to help. After you have done it once it will never feel odd again.

When you do get it open a little, oil on the moving parts of the latch every season will make everything work easier!

I would use some 'Dry Lube' because it doesn't attract dust/dirt.
Just thought I'd share this with everyone.
WD40 is good for sure, but it attracts dust/dirt.

Do what you like.

I sit on the seat while I'm turning the key, then get off carefully so as to not latch it again.
