Having problems with the Rostra Cruise on 2009 GS SE

Hey guys and gals.

My wife's Spyder has a Rostra cruise control on it and I am having one heck of a time trying to set it up. We bought it from the previous owner like that.

I set it up like some guys suggested in another thread but that didn't work.

Here is where I started based on the other thread.

1-on
2-on
3-on
4-off
5-off
6-off
7-off
8-on
9-on
10-off
11-off
12-off

I have tried it on all 4 gains and all 8 engine/setup timers, that is 32 different combinations :banghead: but the bike always surges. I always kept the pulses/mile at 4000, used the sine wave input, manual transmission and open circuit.

The bike has a Rostra speed sensor hooked up to the front belt pulley with two metal pickups across from each other and the sensor is about a 1/4" from the pickup when it passes by.

I checked to make sure that the wires are hooked up to their proper places and they are. Could the unit be bad? :cus:

Some suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :gaah:

Ok, last night I had time to put the Rostra unit though it's diagnostic check and everything checked out ok. The next thing I have to do is remove the breather box and make sure that there is not too much slack in the cruise cable. In the Rostra manual it says that it should not have more than 1/8" of slack. This part will have to wait until I have some time to take it apart. My buddy just put one on his Spyder and it works great, don't know why I am having so much trouble. The guy we bought the bike from said he had it 'professionally' installed. Ya right, the wiring looks like a rats nest. The installation guy never cut the wiring to fit, it's just folded up and tie wrapped to the frame. :lecturef_smilie: I have to find time to fix that as well. :banghead:
