• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Have you personally done a valve adjustment on a SE5

Freddy and Billy Bovine are correct. The SM5 procedure turns the crank using a 14mm hex on the right side of the engine. The SE5 uses a 14mm hex through the HCM. I need to check with someone who has been into that area to confirm something for me. I do understand how to do the actual checking of the valves and calculating shims if necessary.

I appreciate those who have posted in a genuine attempt to be helpful. Thank you.

$237 valve check...

That is a good deal if they really did it it takes more than 2.5 hours + valve gaskets check your bill.
I didn't check my bill, but you are probably right. I only reported the labor, which was added in at 2.5 hrs among a total bill of over $1200 for several other maintenance items, all done at the same time with a single tear-down.

And of course the valves were "in spec" and required no further service, as I hear is usually the case.
