• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Have the Past Albums transferred across to the new platform?

I just noticed that any old pictures/albums we had posted on the old forum may not have transferred to the new format. I hope there is going to be some effort to recover those. I know Mike had a lot of how-to info in his albums and as He has passed away he can't repost any of that. Inspector gadget had a lot of stuff also and I don't think he comes here anymore. There may have been others I am not aware of. It would be a shame to lose all that.

Unfortunately the import process doesnt include the old user album system. That was an addon in the old forum software.

The new system is much nicer & works on your phone or puter & doesnt have issues anymore with rotation etc of the images when uploaded.

Unfortunately the site has lost a lot of its functionality during the transfer, hopefully it will be fixed soon.
This would be incorrect. Some features of the site was completely custom to the old software.

Please be specific & post what features youre posting about as missing?

If you look at pegasus1300 signature, the visited map was a feature of the old system created about 15 yrs ago. There is nothing like that that ive found for xenforo software. This would be a custom designed addition & would cost a lot of money to have made for the new software as a addon. The old addon was free & had a few modifications to it for SL.

The main one that stands out for me is that I am not able to reset my password at the moment on my original SL account due to the fact that I cannot receive an email on my gmail account that is associated with it because gmail is not accepting emails from the current hotmail address that you are using due to the fact that even hotmail itself is marking it as spam.

I haven't been using this account too much to see all of the features as I want to keep some continuity with my original SL account if I am able to get it back, but recently posting pics has become a real PIA. It used to be you could just upload them without having to resize but now I am getting error messages saying it is too big but nothing stating about what size is the max size so it is trial and error to get a pic uploaded.

I apologize if I am sounding to negative, overall I love the new look of the site and see its potential but it is not user friendly at the moment especially if you registered an account with an email service that is blocking the hotmail address that is being used for your admin tools to communicate with your users for site registration and password resets.

I appreciate the work you are doing with the site and understand you are only a one person shop. I had the same situation while I wore multiple hats as system engineer/admin while in Raleigh working at an HBCU. It was so bad there with finances I had to go to the National Science Foundation to get over 200K in stem grants to keep the university from losing its data on the sans that were failing and get the licenses/certificates to make everything work. It can be challenging and I spent many a sleepless nights doing research and working on background/infrastructure items while the students were not online with the campus. You hard work does not go unnoticed.

What I am hearing then is that the old albums, including any of the how to stuff in albums is lost?
Basically, yes.

That's only the albums tho, not necessarily uploaded pics/vids in any of the DIY threads... Just the stuff in the add-on albums. ;)

Of course, there is a (slight) chance that some of it may have been copied by other members and might (eventually?!) be uploaded again; but as I understand it, any pics, images, etc; in fact, anything that wasn't uploaded to the actual server/platform, rather than hosted in an an add-on or hosted remotely elsewhere, and that wasn't already lost by said add-on &/or remote host (eg. we lost a LOT of stuff courtesy of photobucket!) has basically been lost in the recent transfer. :(
