There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hauling and tie down points

Hi Everyone,
I am the "new girl" here.
Just purchased a 2014 Spyder RT-S and I have a few questions.
I am switching to a Spyder from a 2007 Lehman Jackal and really looking forward to the change.

We need to haul the Spyder home from the dealer and we are wondering if there are any specific points for tying down the spyder on a trailer?

Thanks in advance for your help and I am sorry of this has been asked before.

tie down

My first choice would be to ride it home.....Tie down the wheels thru the rims...that will work...

:welcome:
As far as Tie-Down points; use the wheels. :2thumbs:
In the rear; go to the corners of your trailer, and be REAL careful around the drive pulley on the wheel's left-hand side...
Up front; it's best to go straight-ahead with your attachment points...
(I personally prefer using the A-arms; but the manual and I disagree on this point. ;))
When you get it home... :nopic:

On the rear I run a strap around the rear wheel to the left tie down point, and another strap to the right tie down point. Do not run the strap through the sprocket, and keep the straps away from the tire's air valve.

On the front, I run a strap around each wheel and to the respective tie down points, left and right.

I also wipe the wheels clean of dust and grime before I strap it down, then I tighten the straps as much as I can.

Also, so, don't forget to set the parking brake.

THIS WORKS EVEN AFTER YOU CRASH YOUR TRK AND TRAILER

:gaah:...Not kidding ......the only thing I had holding my GF's RT onto the trl was a " 3800 lb rated Rachet strap " which was over the rear tire ......DISCOUNTRAMPS.COM------E-BAY , they are having a fathers day sale .....Mine cost $ 19.95-----so it would be less than that now ......Mikeguyver..................If you use this ...ABSOLUTELY nothing touches any painted part of the Spyder.....

What Bob said! Go through the wheels (rims) for your tie down points. Do not cross tie the front wheels!

One strap with a pad to prevent scratches on each front wheel, draw them tight. One strap with a pad thru the rear wheel, release park brake, draw strap tight, reset brake.

Agree, through the wheels. Use a pad to keep from scratching the wheels.
I run my front wheel straps toward the front of the trailer and the rear wheel strap toward the rear.
I have a good friend who only has 2 trailer tie down points. They are mid way back and on both sides of the trailer. He runs his front straps through each wheel and to the mid point tie down and a strap from the rear wheel to the mid point tie down.

One thing that's weird is feeling the suspension cycle and tugging on bumpy roads when towing with something small...

The point if the tie downs is to prevent bouncing. The brakes are to prevent forward/aft movement. The reason for tightening the straps so much is so they won't jiggle, snap tight and break. On motorcycles the tightness is usually accomplished by depressing the shocks a bit. Because of the Spyder's size depressing the shocks is in feasible.

and I own all the mis-spilin and pohr grammar.

Welcome..!! Welcome..!!

:congrats::welcome:I agree with ryding it home..enjoy your new roadster and if you trailer it follow the above...
