• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anyone pulled a trailer with their RSS?

Have you pulled a small trailer with your RSS? If you did, how did you address the wiring for the spyder to trailer?

Thanks....

PULLING TRAILERS

All Spyders can pull all trailers that weigh less than 400 lbs. LOADED......Yes even the F-3, If you have a Hitch for it.......I had a 2011 RSS and I hard wired a 5 to 4 converter ( car type ) onto the Spyder rear harness.....never had an issue........AS LONG AS THE TRAILER & PLATE LIGHTS ARE .....LED...............Mike ............................................................................................................................................................. :2excited: Johnny, I see you are friends with "outlawsix", ....how's He doing ???.....I helped Him do His JBL speaker swap last year......He's going to be upset when He reads I did get the 5 1/4 inch JBL's in the rear........Tell him if He didn't sell them I will be posting " HOW IT WAS DONE PICS " soon.......

The RSS swing arm will take a hitch, Bushtec had a hitch that would fit, I don't know if they still carry them.
I wired my GS with a Hopkins 5 to 4 powered adapter to isolate the turn signals and brake lights on the trailer from the CanBus on the Spyder, worked out pretty well.

The powered converter that I used on my GS tapped directly to the battery for power, and used the voltage from the lights on the Spyder to trigger the outputs to the trailer. This way, the nanny on the Spyder never knows the trailer lights are there. The converter I used had its own 20 amp fuse, so the type of lights on the trailer didn't matter. I don't remember the number for the converter, but everything fit in the area above the rear wheel, and the harness to the plug was run forward to the swingarm pivot, then down the swingarm to the hitch. Put it in some plastic wire cover and everything looks neat.

These relay interfaces work well. I used them on my 3 Goldwings. So I used the Goldwing type isolator on my RS-S hand wired in for 5 wire as my Bunkhouse camper is 5 wire.
