• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anyone fixed the CarPlay garbled speech?

I use CarPlay extensively in my truck, car, and Goldwing. It's always seamless in all of them. But on the Syder, reading of text messages, map directions, and Siri speech, the sound seems to be in a different time zone. Slow and garbled. Music plays thru fine, but any speech is basically unintelligible.

Now, BRP has Apple CarPlay for the Spyder. I am going to assume it must function better than I've been able to get out of it.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

For info... I have a 2025 Spyder RT-L, Sena built in Shoei helmet, iPhone 17 Pro, Latest software updates for all.

I use a Sena 3S Plus headset that I installed in an HJC helmet and use an iPhone 16e with my 2024 Spyder RT Sea2Sky.

I haven't checked for updates for my Spyder recently, but I did update it not too long ago.
I haven't checked for updates to the Sena headset recently, but it's been working fine.
I backup and check for updates for my iPhone a couple of times a week.

I don't really use text messaging, or use Siri for that matter, and definitely don't listen to music while I'm riding.
I haven't noticed that the navigation messages are garbled.

I am planning on riding tomorrow, probably around 150 miles, so I'll try to remember to report back how things are working.

What you are describing is a problem many of us had with the 2024 models during most of that year. An update eventually solved that issue for most, if not all, of us. Other issues, mainly connectivity, continue.

You don't say which Sena you have in the Shoei helmet. Make sure it is at least Bluetooth 5.0. I'm pretty sure it could only be the earliest versions of the built in Sena that might not be at that level.

And perhaps check to have the phone doesn't connect to the Sena, but is only plugged in to the Spyder. I think people have had mixed results if the phone is connected to both.

Sorry I don't have more help to offer.

This is info I haven't heard yet. I do have the FIRST Sena for Shoei built in. I have given a lot of thought to upgrade to the newer Mesh model. Mine has Bluetooth 4.1, now I have more reason to justify getting a new one.

I have 2 helmets, A BILT Techno 3 (CycleGear) brand with built in Sena electronics. When I first got my 24 Spyder, I had it read 'Text Messages' and it was like speaking half speed... slow speech. Never could find out why. Played around and gave up! So... then, I bought a new SCHUBERTH C5 with Cardo SC2 Edge and all was fine. Only issue is the microphone tends to get pulled out when removing the helmet. Lost one and ordered another. I will superglue that thing in. As with my old 18 DCT Wing, CarPlay usually works but there are times I have to fight it. A lot of times I do not bother. Just ride and hear the wind.

Glad to be of assistance.

If you are on first gen of the built in Sena, then I'm guessing you may also be on the first gen of that particular Shoei helmet (I'm assuming the Neotec line which is what I've got, but I think they also added it to other models - sorry, too lazy to check right now). So you're probably due for a helmet upgrade as well. Just be sure to do your homework to get the Sena model and the helmet model compatible. With each new gen, they changed the designs so things aren't always backward/forward compatible.

Apart from shorter battery life, I really like using Mesh. Much clearer. And less pairing issues.

Well, I didn't ride like I had planned, and it's currently raining here.
It's supposed to be dry tomorrow, and if it is I will ride and report what happens.

But just to be clear, I only use my SENA headset for Apple CarPlay navigation directions. I don't use Siri and I rarely get text messages.
