• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anybody ever thought about / tried a wiki for Spyder?

So I am a new owner and a techie by trade so I want to know all there is to know about owning and modifying my Spyder. I find myself searching the forums a lot to answer simple questions I see asked over and over. Has anyone thought of a wiki to gather the frequent information in one place?

Stuff like:
What non OEM tires will work?
Can I tow a trailer with an RS
Hot Foot
Oil: Checking, changing, brands, intervals, etc.
Are those Ebay CD-Rom service manuals any good?

Etc...

Just a thought. I'm coming up on needing a new tire and at almost 23K miles, I was going to do the bearings too. I find myself searching a lot and then getting annoyed at all the people that did not search and repeat the same question over and over.

The Wiki would be a great tool.

Get used to the same questions here, but please don't let it bother you !!!!! When I first got a Spyder I was asking the same questions as the recent newbies. Now that I'm more experienced with the Spyder, I now can give back and help others who might need it and I hope you will do the same. It has been tried before to make a thread with the most frequently asked questions, but it quickly gets lost in the archives after a few days. The only way to correct that if Lamont adds it as a sticky to the top.

The Spyder sevice manual on CD is a must have if you plan on tinkering.

:ohyea:

People ask the same [to you] questions because to them the question is new, And if you follow the threads you'll find that sometimes the answers to the same questions will get more refined and helpful as more people answer [add to] the same question's. Sought of like Brainstorming.

Yeah, I thought about putting together a FAQ a long time ago, seeing as it really is the same questions over and over again.

Then I realized, what the heck else would we all have to post about without answering the same questions over and over again? :joke:
