• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hard to see $245.00 worth of product here

Got my first little ride with it yesterday and it does help in the turns. It seems to hug the road better and there is less sway as advertised. :doorag:

Is it $245.00 better? :dontknow: I guess compared to $2000.00 shocks it's a bargain. When I showed the part to my son and asked him how much he thought it cost he said $40 bucks. That would be the perceived value.

I would say if you're okay with the price it's worth doing. It does help the ride. :doorag:

I doubt they're made in house, so there's that cost. Development, heat treatment, fabrication, rockwell testing, powdercoating, advertising, profit margin. I bet they cost more to produce than just the price of the metal involved.
I've gotten sticker shock on some LED lighting products, too!!:yikes::yikes:

Lot's of motorcycle accessories are overpriced for what they are. Wish they weren't. (But it hasn't worked so far):ani29:

I have the product and love it, works fantastic with the Penske shocks.
As far as price, is anything worth what people charge, probably not, but I believe in Ken and his products. I always know the products will be top notch and he will back his products.
Ride safe

Looking at the Gear Position Sensor I wouldn't think it should cost $110 - but obviously it's worth it-----;)

Could you provide a link to the penske shocks? I did a search and didn't see any shocks for the spyder.

OK, so... if I buy an iPhone I get a free sway bar??

,John.

And I m thinking you're is talking about BRP LED's,maybe?

I just got a 500 buck estimate on the second checkup (3000 mi?) for our Spyder.:cus: I ll find a different dealer. Wish I was back in MI.

Maybe someone should start a "Spyder Mods that Didnt Quite Work Out" thread!:D

I am guessing you will not be sending him a xmas card.
If you met him, you would like him. He is very honest.

:agree:

His products are top notch and he knows his stuff. As with anything in life - you get what you pay for.

Still trying to decide on the shocks. The BRP ones just seem so cheaply built. The Elka seem really cool, as do the Penske.

Consensus is....

Well, since my Power Steering got fixed I'm lifting a wheel much more than I ever did before. I've known about Ken's swaybar mod for sometime and I finally decided to look into it for myself.

Seems like the consensus is

1- Works Great
2- Good quality workmanship
3- May or May Not cost more than it's worth

So I purchased one. Wish it still came in Red Powder Coat but that's my fault for waiting too long to order one.

I will slap that baby on when it gets here and give you "One Man's Opinion" on the three issues listed above.

one of the best upgrades I have gotten for any of the bikes, my scotts steering dampener cost $500, and does of course look cooler, when I took the sway bar out of the box "buyers reget" after cutting corners at 15-20 mph above what I could do without it I realized that looks aren't everything

Just curious...why the steering dampener? Not sure what that would do for the Spyder...

I'm not sure, but I think he was just comparing the steering damper used on previous conventional two-wheeled bikes to the sway bar on the Spyder. I agree that a steering damper would do nothing for the Spyder.

Ok, that makes sense. But you never know what people will hang on the Spyder. And who knows....Sometimes mods will surpise you (in both directions).

Thanks for the help!

I got my sway bar from Ken and I have to say just looking at what it took material wise and fabrication wise I find it hard to justify the $245.00 bill I got for it. For some reason I thought there was more to it. :dontknow:

I have heard good reports about it so I'll hold back judgment until I ride around with it for a few miles but right now I've got buyers remorse. :opps:

Hey Lamonster
There is no bar stoppers with this new design.
I notice on the original bar there is bolt on stoppers and with the original bar from Ken there is welded on bar stoppers.
I have just installed the bar as close to the middle as possible.
Is this a concern or am I being a worry wart?

Thanks

What part of the bar is the stoppers? Those large square parts?

What purpose do they serve?

You say you mounted 'as close' to center as possible. What does that mean? I thought there were only 2 positions you could use - inner holes or outer holes?

The original bars had flanges welded on that matched the edges of the mounting points. My assumption at the time of install was that those flanges kept the whole bar from sliding left-to-right.

And, yes, use the holes toward the center for the "stiffest" setting.
